Offer a tax credit for a gun safe and you make safe storage the easy choice instead of the lecture. Meet responsible owners halfway. Most of them want their guns locked away from a kid or a thief as much as you do.

@AMarch4OurLives Imagine being so obtuse that you live in a country made free with guns, which is currently defended by guns (military), in cities/states defended by more guns (police/sheriff), yet you think guns are the problem. You should probably move to a gun-free country.

For 250 years, this country has called access to firearms a matter of freedom. Every year, the country pays the price. And every year, we decide to pay it again.

Almost every mass shooting with a high body count used a high capacity magazine. Limit the magazine and you do not stop every shooting, but you give people seconds to run and reload time to be tackled. Seconds are lives.

Dear responsible gun owners: the laws we are asking for would not touch you. Background checks, safe storage, red flags. If your rifle is locked and your record is clean, the only thing you lose is a talking point.

@Iamemperor00 Discernment is a wonderful gift. I think it detrimental to condition people to go against their instincts, especially youth.

A week later, our local community Facebook page exploded with posts. The same man had been arrested. According to the reports, he had been secretly recording people in public changing rooms for months. I just sat there staring at the screen. Was it coincidence? Maybe. Kids say random things all the time. But I couldn’t stop thinking about that little girl’s face. She wasn’t scared. She wasn’t dramatic. She simply said, “I don’t like him.” Ever since then, I’ve wondered about something. Adults are taught to ignore first impressions because they’re often biased. Children haven’t learned most of those biases yet. Sometimes they notice things we don’t. Or maybe we just remember the times they happen to be right. Either way… If your child strongly disliked someone for no obvious reason… Would you trust their instinct? Or would you assume they were just being a kid?

I was sitting on a packed train when a little girl, maybe six years old, walked up to me and asked, “Can I sit with you?” There were empty seats. I pointed to one and smiled. “You can sit there.” She shook her head. “My mom said I should sit next to the nicest-looking person.” Her mother looked embarrassed and apologized. I laughed and told the girl she could sit with me. For the next twenty minutes we talked about cartoons, dinosaurs, and why she thought pigeons were “government birds.” When our stop came, the mom thanked me and quietly said, “I’m sorry if that was awkward.” I told her it wasn’t a big deal. Then she said something that stayed with me. “My daughter has never been wrong about people.” I thought she was joking. She wasn’t. She explained that whenever her daughter instantly liked someone, they usually turned out to be genuinely kind. Whenever she refused to go near someone, there was almost always a reason later. She admitted it sounded ridiculous, but after years of seeing it happen, she’d learned to trust her instincts. I smiled politely and left. A few months later, I ran into them again at a grocery store. The little girl recognized me immediately and ran over to say hi. While we were talking, another customer walked up and started making conversation. The girl suddenly grabbed her mom’s hand and whispered, “I don’t like him.” The man hadn’t done anything strange. He was friendly. He even offered to help the mom reach something from the top shelf. The mom thanked him but quickly ended the conversation and walked away. I remember thinking, “That’s unfair.”

Today, Jaime Guttenberg would have turned 26, but she's forever 14 because she was senselessly murdered at her high school in Parkland, FL. We can honor her life by taking action to prevent gun violence. Thinking of her family and friends today, especially @fred_guttenberg. 💜

@Jonathan_Hinder Also, you make far more money than I do, so you should give me all your money until this wealth inequality is eliminated permanently. ;)

@Jonathan_Hinder Arguing that people should be able to keep what they earn and to be able to defend their property and lives IS the exact moral argument of "the Right", so obviously fewer people than you thought find "wealth inequality utterly grotesque".

The Right’s response to a wealth tax is always “but it won’t work!” What I find interesting is that there is rarely an attempt to argue against it on moral grounds, because they know most people find such wealth inequality utterly grotesque. There is overwhelming public support for doing something about this - I mean, LOOK at that polling👇👀 So, why don’t we crack on with the most effective and practicable ideas? We know that a proportional property tax, while a bit less flashy, actually works, so let’s start there! @FairerShare

With former financial trader Gary Stevenson advocating for a wealth tax of 2% on wealth above £10 million in a TV show this week, our poll last year found 75% of Britons would be in favour of such a tax Link in replies

@japan_nobunaga My parents gave me a BB-gun when I was about 12. I fired my first gun (.22 caliber) around the same age, under my father's supervision. I took my 2 daughters shooting the 1st time when they were around 11-12 years old.

Be honest with me, Americans 🇺🇸 At what age did you FIRST shoot a gun? I'm an adult Japanese man who has never touched one. Ever. But I keep seeing family range days posted like… baseball practice. Is that normal? No judgment. Just trying to understand 🙏 (drop your age + state)

@JedediahBila I went into the army straight out of high school and was stationed in Italy for 2 years. The first thing I realized was that many average looking American women had a huge sense of entitlement (chip on their shoulders), whereas many European (model equivalent) women didn’t.
