Today's "wow" US #jobs report is good news for Main Street, less so for #WallStreet and the @FederalReserve. The economy continues to create lots of jobs (353,000 in January) and is seeing a pickup in both monthly and annual wage growth (0.6%/4.5%). This translates into greater purchasing power for the main driver of economic #growth. With Wall Street having bet on early and large #Fed rate cuts, the immediate kneejerk reaction to the data will be bond market losses and less buoyancy in #stocks. Meanwhile, the #Fed will be torn between welcoming an exceptionally resilient labor market and worrying about wage-push #inflation.
