@LtGovMiller Racial discrimation is not permissible in any way, shape or form under the Constitution. This is all the ruling says, but go ahead and spin it however makes your donors happy.

The U.S. Supreme Court has dealt a severe blow to the Voting Rights Act—the crown jewel of the Civil Rights Era. The right to vote is not a technicality, it’s the foundation of our democracy. As an immigrant and a civil engineer, I’ve seen how systems can open doors—or shut people out. This ruling makes it easier to silence voters and harder to fight discrimination. That’s why in Maryland, we’re taking action. We signed the Maryland Voting Rights Act into law because we won’t wait for Washington—we’ll use every tool to protect access to the vote and ensure every Marylander has an equal voice. apnews.com/article/suprem…

We need national redistricting reform to protect the right to equal representation under the law, but Republicans in D.C. have REPEATEDLY rejected those efforts. I've said before, and my position remains unmoved: Until we have national redistricting reform, every state should stay part of the conversation Yesterday, I signed the Maryland Voting Rights Act into law. We refuse to wait for Washington to do the right thing and we will use every tool available to defend the constitutional right to representation, protect access to the ballot, and ensure that every Marylander has an equal voice in our democracy. SCOTUS’s decision to kneecap the Voting Rights Act is a betrayal of the idea that in America, every vote counts. Their decision will make it easier to discriminate, suppress, and silence voters who have already fought too long and too hard for the right to be heard.

Statewide there’s been a 44% drop in homicides and a 40% drop in non-fatal shootings since Gov. Moore took office.

People in Baltimore are feeling safer because they are safer. Baltimore City recorded its lowest number of homicides in nearly 50 years, driven by historic funding for law enforcement and public safety resources from Gov. Moore, Mayor Scott, and State’s Attorney Bates.

FWIW, there is a story -- a positive one -- about crime and Balt City in our new UMBC Poll numbers. I looked back at the polling I did for the @BaltimoreBanner in 2023/2024 & compared to our new UMBC Poll. Perceptions of crime in the city have changed:

When it comes to fighting Trump, Maryland’s leaders are backing April McClain Delaney. While David Trone voted to give Trump’s ICE $200 million, April has never voted a penny for ICE and led the fight to stop a detention center in our district. “April is fighting hard to stop the ICE detention center in Washington County. And she’s fighting hard to stop Donald Trump’s lawbreaking.” - Congressman Raskin

ANOTHER FAILURE: @GovWesMoore told us the Key Bridge rebuild was the fastest-moving project in the nation. The contract just got canceled amid rising costs and delays. Anemic leadership produces anemic results. Focus on Maryland, Wes. baltimoresun.com/2026/04/28/key…

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱: 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝟮 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: As we prepare to enter Phase 2 of the rebuild, our team approached negotiations with our contractor with firm imperatives, but the contractor's proposed price and timeline for moving forward was unacceptable and not in the best interest of the people of Maryland and the American people. I’ve directed MDTA to conduct a new procurement and to deliver the best deal for taxpayers while ensuring that the project is delivered with the highest standards. To be absolutely clear: Work is NOT stopping. We are NOT slowing down. We are securing the right partners to complete this mission. The Key Bridge will be rebuilt safely, QUICKLY, and cost-efficiently – no exceptions.

“The fact that Governor Moore’s first major endorsement rollout this cycle is all red-to-blue candidates shows he is committed to winning flippable districts up and down the ballot and all across the State of Maryland,” said Steuart Pittman, chair of the Maryland Democratic Party. “Together we will work to win big in competitive seats all across the state and send a message in November that Maryland Democrats are sending leaders to Annapolis that will leave no one behind.”

.@GovWesMoore has a problem with the truth. He claimed he turned a deficit into a surplus, called the largest tax hike in state history “relief,” refuses to release his full military records, and won’t answer basic questions about his time at Citigroup. It’s the same pattern. Marylanders deserve better. As your governor, I’ll tell you the truth every step of the way, whether it’s popular or not. axios.com/2026/04/26/wes…
