Some debate in comments on video as to “trusting” current NUFC set up with recruitment this summer. I’d argue that, until last summer (when there was some mitigation & subsequent bad luck) their incomings were among the best in Europe, a hit rate of unusually high success.

@RobNoLastName @mcrstuart No this is incorrect….. not taxed on capital gains on bond, even if held outside SIPP or ISA . The coupon / dividend is subject to tax though. Hence buy low coupon bond (minimal dived = minimal tax) and sell as capital appreciates …as duration reduces 😉

Yikes! UK Bonds at 5.05%. The fund CTY, City stalwart has paid 5% divs since the 1960s. Gov now beating them to it. Yikes. Prem Bonds effective rate 3%. Sell them, buy Gov bonds. Both backed by Gov. One pays vastly superior returns. This is bad!

YOU KNOW WHAT'S INSANE? If you're on a 40% tax rate, you're handing over 40p of every £1 you earn. That means. JANUARY. FEBRUARY. MARCH. APRIL. You're working 4+ months a year just to pay the government. But that's just income tax. Now add: VAT on almost everything you buy Vehicle tax & licence fees - Council tax & land tax - Fuel duty & road tolls - Stamp duty, insurance taxes, "luxury" levies. When you add it all up, if you earn £100k, you're likely working 5-6+ months a year just to cover taxes. That's half your year gone before you even see a pound for yourself.
