My name is Guido. @RockstarGames won’t let me use my name in my username because it says it’s profanity. They think my name is profanity. Think about that.

.@TerribleMaps Any idea which projection flat earthers believe the earth is shaped like? Probably mercator, ugh. Would be kinda funny if it was something like Dymaxion.
English

@realRetroPC Yes. At Microsoft. Never outside in the real world.
English

@TerribleMaps Annnnnnd… they still won’t give back Bolivia’s access to the sea even while rolled up. 🤦♂️

@ProgramMax @garethlewin @d_feldman This is pretty much what I did too. It’s helps having grown up in a less expensive part of the country.
English

@garethlewin @d_feldman I'm happy to share all I've researched and learned about this if people want. But unsolicited, it would sound boastful.
But the biggest one IMHO that almost all Americans struggle with is savings rate. Even most rich FAANG nerds live paycheck to paycheck.

@schemeprincess @d_feldman Honestly I think grad school after early retirement makes a lot more sense than right after undergrad. After a decade or two of working you really have an awesome perspective to learn new things outside of a corporate environment.
English

@d_feldman I think people are pretty terrible at being retired actually. I feel like all of my friends that made enough money that they could retire then went on to do something stupid like going to grad school. Of course, I might just have a very specific set of friends 😂

@dillardsarah And I know this is theoretical stuff, but I also think that the understand that number systems are just made up to make things easier for us is a good fundamental to learn. I especially like Paul Lockhart's book Arithmetic and how it presents number theory.
English

@dillardsarah This whole thread is a very good take on HS math. I've long thought it was stupid that we had kids memorize proofs and algorithms rather than just the fact that these sorts of maths exist and what they can be used for and how to find out where to learn about them when you need it
