No doubt. The best. Privileged to say he brought me into scouting and privileged to be able to work with him with 2 teams. Learned my scouting skills from G. More proud to call him friend & family. Loved the dude! Most important rule he taught me was to listen.Simple but true🙏🏼💔

Chris Moon was part of the @ArizonaBaseball recruiting class that went on to win a national championship. Instead, after a very successful fall season with the Wildcats, Moon felt a calling to serve his country instead. He was drafted by the Braves, turned that down too. Like Pat Tillman, Moon answered the call and left to carry a long rifle as a sniper in the 82nd Airborne Division. Chris became a member of his unit in the 2-508th Parachute Infantry Regiment. Chris was KIA from wounds suffered by an IED in the Arghandab River Valley of Kandahar Province, Afghanistan. His friends told me he was very good at his job. Probably too good. At that time, snipers trailed with their long rifle visible - The last man. Moon was targeted by remote control. He passed away while his mom was in flight to see him. Heroes don’t hit balls over fences - Chris is a hero and we continue to recognize his family and his legacy and honor their sacrifice.

The last time we will see Clayton Kershaw walk off a baseball field as a player. What an honor it was to have grown up watching this legend.

At the @uspbl, we want to hear from pitchers who can pitch — players with a résumé of game success, no matter the level of college baseball. Too many pitchers market bullpen metrics or pitch data when seeking a pro opportunity. What matters most is proving you can get hitters out in games. One of the best pitchers I’ve seen in the USPBL was Evan Piechota, signed out of Madonna University (NAIA). At Madonna he finished: • 2nd all-time in wins • 3rd in complete games • 2nd in ERA • 2nd in opponent batting average He arrived in the USPBL throwing 86–88 mph, but he knew how to pitch. While pitching for the Utica Unicorns, we helped him build a larger energy system while maintaining his quick-paced delivery. Within three weeks, his velocity improved to 88–91 mph. The results followed. 33.2 IP 37 K 1 BB 1.62 ERA The Pittsburgh Pirates signed him. He went on to throw 188 innings in their system with a 3.69 ERA, a 1.5 BB/9, and nearly a 5:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The pathway to professional baseball does not only run through the biggest programs. If you’ve been overlooked but have a track record of performing in games, the USPBL can be a pathway to affiliated baseball. If you can pitch, we want to hear from you.
