Thinking about business travel. Besides Timeshifter, are there any good scientifically-based jet lag apps out there?

@daisyldixon It’s super weird. It’s a fad that did a tour of duty back when I was a teenager in the noughties but somehow it’s returned and crept into normal conversation. How do we banish it?!

there seems to be this new fad both in and outside the manosphere where people score others’ looks, especially women’s, out of 10 and I think it’s fcking weird

@hubermanlab What does 'offset' mean? Does it mean 'replace' or 'Delay the need for' or something else?

Brief (8-10min) Non-Sleep-Deep-Rest (NSDR) protocols are distinct from meditation & similar but different from Yoga Nidra. Emerging data show they can restore mental & physical vigor, dopamine levels & offset missed hours of sleep. Links to two examples are below (zero cost):

While technically we can’t replace lost sleep, a 10-90min nap or 10-30min NSDR (non-sleep deep rest) protocol can significantly restore key aspects of cognition & physical performance. Protocols, mechanisms & references on the latest Huberman Lab Podcast: hubermanlab.com/sleep-toolkit-…

To ensure a terrible nights sleep: 1) nap more than 90min in the afternoon 2) >100mg caffeine after 4pm 3) eat right before bed time (I confess I do this now and again, as I can’t fall asleep hungry) 4) Sleep in on weekends more than 1hr longer than usual duration

In linguistics, Escher sentences are sentences which initially seem acceptable but upon further reflection have no well-formed meaning.

@siimland @EugeneMironets @davidasinclair Is there any specific work on when in the day would be best to time OMAD? I recall research that protein synthesis is higher in the mornings, so maybe time fasting, feeding and training around these natural peaks?

@EugeneMironets @davidasinclair Intermittent fasting (time restricted earing) already helps to acheive both. During fasted state you suppress mTOR and raise autophagy. During eating phase you flip it. Add resistance training and you will get the best of both worlds

@emilyinkpen That's an awesome pile of books! So many I still have to read. Shikasta is just marvellous - I've never read anything quite like it. Mysterious and powerful. Please post your thoughts as you get through these...

Wellness fads, like hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for COVID, can propagate quickly, even among highly-trained professionals. Even after being proven false. Fascinating piece on evidence-based medicine during COVID from Nature: play.acast.com/s/nature/audio…

@langernutrition This is a wonderul article - thank you! So much of what I read about functional medicine has degraded into absolutism on both sides but your approach is really refreshing and thoughtful 👏🏽
