@rossiadam Showed an M&A lawyer a dashboard you could build for preliminary conversations around company valuations and I assume the look on his face was similar to cavemen discovering fire

Was on a call with some older commercial RE brokers. One of them used Grok to analyze a deal and they all lost their minds with the quality of the analysis. We are so very early.

@AdviserCounsel Forced disclosure or premium spend by Fisher to get their name out front and center?

SmartAsset probably refers prospective clients to dozens if not hundreds of different investment advisers. So, it is weird to me that their disclosure specifically authorizes Fisher Investments to contact the prospect.

@AdviserCounsel And they'll probably be even more successful with the new one than the last. Have to imagine a few wouldn't mind selling just to get a clean slate on how the practice is built and ran

Have talked to multiple people in the last few days who have had exits from RIAs and after some time and reflection are going to start new RIAs.

@BeenThereCap Kotek shot herself in the foot trying to force a giant gas tax on the state then convened an "economic prosperity council" which came out with proposals that pretty much contradicted everything the dems run on. Will be really interesting to see how it plays out.

Wait - while lately the left wing media outlets and right wing rage baiters are focusing the elections discussion almost entirely on socialists winning primaries, a Republican might win the governor’s race *in Oregon*?? I just asked Gemini why. Its answer: 1. Kotek (the incumbent) is unpopular, mainly due to her positions and actions on homelessness, housing, public safety, illegal drug usage, and education. (So basically, standard left-wing fail, from the standpoint of me, a centrist) 2. Drazan (the challenger) is center-right and already well known; she was the losing candidate 4 years ago 3. That poll is probably biased - sponsored by the challenger’s campaign and done by a Republican-affiliated polling firm

@cgaunerd Little ironic arguing for compensation to be based on free market rates with the policies being championed, no?

@FrostyFinances @h_th14 So for a true meritocratic test, you'd need to remove all assets, skills, etc. It's a pointless exercise. But if you actually give everyone the same training, knowledge that the truly wealthy get, trust me humanity will surprise you. Most just never get the chance.

I'm a firm believer that if we gave everyone in America $1M each today, in 20yrs we would still have the same wealth disparity & social construct we have today. Nothing will change. There's dumbasses (broke), there's educated & common sense'rs (millionaires) , and there's builders (billionaires). Everyone fits into one of these three categories.

@Mindventure_ @FrostyFinances If you stripped out everyone's existing assets, gave everyone a million dollars, and fast forwarded 100 yrs, I think his point would still be valid on the socioeconomic breakdown.

@FrostyFinances This is a dumb ass premise because 1M each just means you increased inflation but did nothing about wealth disparity

Everyone talks about a home gym being the pinnacle. F-that. I just watched a mid 70’s guy deadlift 315. That’s the motivation that keeps me coming back.

@RosserJobs Yes, 10+ yr tie up that came with it was insane. Makes sense how they can make the economics on it work though.

Conversation this weekend blew my mind. I was told the major wealth management firms will pay a recruiter 12% of an advisor’s annual production for making a successful move. Example: $6M annual book. $30M transition package. $720k recruiting fee. Can anyone confirm or debunk?

Mr Neutral Man aka "Howard Marks of REITs”
Dear ReTwit, similarly I need help with this collection of assets in Portland. Occupancy issues here as this collection of asset is only 67% leased. But seems to be in a rather affluent area. Top of mind, seems like crime and quality of life are issues. If anyone knows these assets well, would love to connect.

@AdviserCounsel I hear you but am leaning toward taking the risk with it. With enough conversation around it as they’re growing up I think it can be done properly. Agreed that they turn 18 and the “hey by the way here’s 90k you now completely control make good choices” is a recipe for disaster

Taking advantage of the $1k free money in a new 530A IRA (i.e., Trump Account) makes sense to me. Transferring $90,000+ to an 18-year old and inviting a 10% penalty is a recipe for disaster.

@Mr_Neutral_Man Glad to finally be able to help out! Happy to chat if any other questions about the area come up. I know there are plenty that see this as a contrarian opportunity and I hope they're right.

@Mr_Neutral_Man For minimal benefit. General sentiment from businesses/ residents that moved is little desire to get back after issues that got them out. Lucky that a lot stuck around the state (FWIW I love Oregon but get where lots are coming from)

@Mr_Neutral_Man Area is definitely the best of Portland and the crime/ homelessness isn't as bad as other parts. Occupancy will be stagnant at best imo and any trends that do reverse will probably benefit the areas on the county border before Portland proper. Add'l 4% income tax hard to justify
