Christopher Nolan is the greatest filmmaker ever man, he passed Tarantino, Scorsese and Kubrick. The Odyssey is the cherry on top for a flawless discography.

I will never understand the sheer entitlement of some people telling Greeks how Greeks should feel about how their own heritage is being portrayed on the big screen. The Odyssey isn’t “just a myth.” In fact, no myth is “just a myth.” Myths are culturally significant stories that are linked to a group’s shared cultural identity, origins, and their understanding of the world. The Odyssey was composed by ancient Greeks, and was seen by the ancient Greeks as a vital part of their own history. Today, the Odyssey forms an integral part of Greek heritage. And heritage is a part of a nation/people’s group identity and pride. Outsiders should not feel entitled to telling a group of people how they should and shouldn’t react to the way that their precious heritage is being portrayed. This applies to every culture, but right now, it’s the Greeks who really need to be heard.
