Here are the actual legal net migration stats for the relevant years: 2019: +184,000 (pre-pandemic) 2020: +93,000 (so almost 100k despite pandemic restrictions) 2021: +467,000 (post-pandemic bounce) 2022: +891,000 (now he’s lost control of the numbers) 2023: +848,000 (his successors fail to get control of what he left behind) 2024: +331,000 (falling at last — but still about 150,000 pre-pandemic 20199) And that, mes enfants, is the Boris Wave.

Disingenuous to blame civil servants for the Boriswave. In June 2022, net migration was 764,000- unprecedented at the time. I arrived at the Home Office in September 2022 to find legal migration out of control. I set out a clear plan to cut the numbers quickly. Civil servants were exceptionally helpful in building that plan with me. It was Conservative MINISTERS who blocked my plan for over a year. The plan was eventually delivered in November 2023- 1 year later, which was far too late and after the damage had been done. The migration crisis was the Greatest Betrayal by the last Conservative government.

Andy Burnham believes that prosperity can be achieved by re-organising local government, and then taking money from “the rich”. This is the politics of zero sum; it has a long history, all of it disastrous. He has the wrong diagnosis, the wrong priorities and the wrong solutions. My job now is to expose and challenge this at every turn. Mrs Thatcher’s genius was that she understood that national prosperity was in the hands of the people, not the State. She had a vision for the country that went beyond tax and spend; she rebuilt Britain’s self-confidence and oversaw the fastest rise in working people’s income by unlocking enterprise, ownership and personal responsibility, using less regulation and lower taxes. The choice is now clear. Andy Burnham's Labour Party offering state control and redistribution or my new Conservative Party offering enterprise, responsibility and growth just like Thatcher did.   Our offer is a vision in which prosperity comes from the people, not the State and where everyone, whether rich or poor has a brighter future.

The UK government have just agreed to give Pakistan another £153,000,000. The government don’t actually have any money, so they’re giving away your money. It won’t go to the poor of Pakistan. It’ll go to the corrupt leaders there. As it always does. And the money comes from the hardworking, least wealthy people here. To put that enormous figure of £153,000,000 into context; the average basic rate taxpayer in the UK pays £2,700 per annum in tax. So 56,666 people in this country will be going to work all year just to give their money to Pakistan. Not one penny of their tax will go to schools, hospitals, roads or anything else in the UK. It will go straight to Pakistan. Imagine if those nearly 57,000 people got to keep their tax and spend it in this country instead. Imagine all that money being spent in pubs. Imagine the extra staff that would then be needed. The extra employment right here that it would create. But instead, it’s all going to Pakistan. Every single penny.

Amnesty is no longer the organisation that defended all who were persecuted for their freedom of speech. It has become a self-appointed, vainglorious policeman of wrongthink. It tweets out ideological slogans. It demonises those who disagree with those slogans. It intervened in FWS v Scottish Ministers, on the side of those determined to keep men in women’s prisons and rape crisis centres. Some of us haven’t forgotten that Amnesty stopped supporting the since-murdered prisoner of conscience Alexei Navalny because they deemed he’d said unacceptable things in the past. They reversed that decision due to public backlash, exactly as they withdrew the recent defamatory report, before I or anyone else had responded to it, because they panicked on seeing the reaction. A cynic might think they changed their minds on both occasions, not on principle, but because they were afraid of losing money. You cannot be simultaneously an impartial defender of freedom and speech and a wealthy international witch hunter that publicly vilifies and intimidates small campaigning groups with whom you disagree. As for ‘silencing’ Amnesty, I have neither the power nor the desire to do so. I want them to explain as loudly and extensively as possible why they are using their might and formerly lustrous reputation to attack small non-violent campaigning organisations with legally protected beliefs.

Keir Starmer — ever a man of his word til the end. In June 2023 he explicitly ruled out ever indulging in a resignation honours list (BBC Radio 4 Today). Today he’s marked his resignation with 21 peerages, overwhelmingly public-sector/legal jobsworths. Barely a single wealth creator among them. Classic line up of the New Establishment which has run the country under Labour and Tory governments for the past three decades and is now firmly in control. Largely (if not entirely) with the following characteristics: *Career almost entirely in public sector, often taking salaries from several sinecures at once as they work up the greasy taxpayer-funded pole. *Associated with various ‘right-on’ causes. *Largely middle class, London chattering class, Oxbridge well represented (of course). *Fashionable left but not too left. Good mainstream Labour links. Thus is the antediluvian House of Lords perpetuated by the Left as well as the Right as a comfortable state-funded retirement home for the well-connected ‘good and great’ past their sell-by date — when it should simply be abolished.

It’s striking how people who have never faced racism, and rarely speak up when they witness it, often insist that it isn’t real. Some of us remember five years ago, when teenagers playing for England were subjected to such intense racist abuse that it shook us to our core. You don’t have to agree with me, but please don’t dismiss or deny our lived experiences. ✌🏾
