Messages like this abound on the Ethereum blockchain. This one is particularly heart rending. You'd think this would be a good enough inoculation against turning blackhat.

@hrkrshnn never thought about it this way. But this couldnt be more true. People will literally kill themselves instead of changing their habits... very wishful thinking of us to think it would be any different for protocol developers (who are also people i believe)

I had a wonderful panel at DeFi Security Summit last week. One big disagreement I have with others in the industry is on the amount of effort that teams need to put into security. There's an overwhelming push that protocol teams need to do more to secure their protocols: more tests, more specs, more everything. To me, that's a failure of the security industry. You can make an analogy to the global obesity crisis. For years, people talked about solving this with more exercise, better sleep, eating well, and so on. But the largest reduction in weight last year came from a drug inspired by a venomous lizard. There's a lesson in there.

We used to have actual conversations, discourse. It wasn't always friendly but at least it was real people Now the replies to every post are littered with slop. Weren't Elon and Nikita supposed to get rid of the bots? Seems like they have been amplified instead.
