@mikepompeo I have been a huge supporter of President Trump and voted for him three times. If this deal goes through as reported, I can tell you that the vast majority of MAGA voters will be gone. This is not America first and the president negotiating with a terrorist regime is a disgrace.

The deal being floated with Iran seems straight out of the Wendy Sherman-Robert Malley-Ben Rhodes playbook: Pay the IRGC to build a WMD program and terrorize the world. Not remotely America First. It’s straightforward: Open the damned strait. Deny Iran access to money. Take out enough Iranian capability so it cannot threaten our allies in the region. Overdue. Let’s go.

If the U.S. agrees to release funds and/or lift sanctions in exchange for the regime reopening the Strait of Hormuz, then Washington will have effectively accepted defeat; and there will be no way to spin it.

We are at a moment that will define President Trump’s legacy. His instincts have been to finish the job he started in Iran, but he is being ill advised to pursue a deal that would not be worth the paper it is written on. Our commander-in-chief needs to allow America's skilled armed forces to finish the destruction of Iran's conventional military capabilities and reopen the strait.   Further pursuit of an agreement with Iran's Islamist regime risks a perception of weakness. We must finish what we started. It is past time for action.
