Here it is. The first episode of @mundhebanni. This isn't just the launch of a podcast-it's the beginning of a dream I’ve carried for years. For the longest time, I’ve felt that we don’t do enough to celebrate entrepreneurship in Karnataka. We speak of founders once they become national names, but rarely celebrate their roots-where they come from, how they got started, what they overcame. And without celebrating local entrepreneurs, how can we ever build a lasting culture of entrepreneurship? That question stayed with me. For years. And a few months ago, something clicked. Some like-minded people came together, and Mundhe Banni began to take shape. A platform, a movement, a small attempt to shift the culture. And as Paulo Coelho said, “When you want something deeply, the universe conspires to make it happen.” That’s exactly how this felt. We received support and good wishes from so many people. When it came to choosing our first guest, one name stood out: @vivekanandahr, co-founder of Bounce. Vivek’s story perfectly captures the spirit we want to celebrate. A middle-class boy from Haasan who built India’s largest scooter-sharing platform, and is now building cutting-edge EVs with battery-swapping technology, reaching global markets. He is resilient, rooted, and visionary. When we reached out to him; despite never having met or even spoken over the phone; he said yes. He showed up with warmth and humility, spoke his mind, and gave us a deeply insightful conversation. It’s an episode full of honesty, grit, and inspiration. You’ll not only hear the story of a founder, but a reflection of the ambition and resilience that powers so many entrepreneurs across Karnataka. It’s honest. It’s warm. It’s deeply inspiring. And I truly hope it sets the tone for what Mundhe Banni will stand for. 🎥 Watch the episode here: youtube.com/watch?v=t1QY2a… Let us know what you think. If this speaks to you, please share it. Tag someone who needs to hear this. Let’s build the culture we wish existed. Let’s celebrate our own. Mundhe Banni.

Once, a renowned linguist told me something fascinating: that people from coastal regions of any country tend to be more entrepreneurial than those from landlocked areas. And it’s not for political or socio-economic reasons, but something deeper, something almost psychological. Every day, people living by the coast wake up to the vastness of the ocean. There’s a constant visual reminder that there’s a world beyond the horizon; unknown, full of possibility, waiting to be explored. That view sparks curiosity, agency, and a natural urge to move, to discover, to take risks. In contrast, people from landlocked regions; especially places blessed with consistent rainfall and a certain rhythm of life; may grow up with a sense of security and predictability. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it can shape one’s outlook differently. I often think about this when I see the recent surge of talent from coastal Karnataka making waves in the Kannada film industry. Honestly, it feels like it was bound to happen. These creators bring with them a different energy; stories rooted in a distinct culture, full of freshness and originality. It’s exciting to watch this unfold. And maybe, just maybe, it’s time we see a similar cultural surge from the northern parts of Karnataka too. There’s so much untapped potential and richness waiting to be expressed from that region.

Tech investor Mohandas Pai said professionals working in Karnataka must learn local language and use it in public dealings. Terming the refusal of certain public officials to learn Kannada as arrogance, he said it causes unnecessary tensions, which are easily avoidable.

a) Claiming only 4–5 people ask for Kannada in Bengaluru is false, data (see below) clearly shows the city’s preference for Kannada over other languages b) He wants calls for Kannada “nipped in the bud.” Kannadigas must do the opposite, deny him any platform on their soil
Harish Upadhya@harishupadhya

Sonu Nigam argues that '4-5 boys in the audience' were aggressively asking him to sing a Kannada song in a threatening manner. It's still unclear how the behavior of 4-5 rude people at a music concert can trigger a terror attack. He regularly sings Kannada songs..(1/2)
