Police Intensify Nationwide Manhunt for Zimbabwean Truck Driver Vusi Tega After He Disappeared While Out on R10k Bail for the 2022 N3 Crash That Killed Two Young People
South African police have intensified their search for Vusi Tega, a Zimbabwean national accused of causing a deadly crash on the N3 near Mariannhill in 2022. The renewed manhunt follows reports that Tega, who was out on bail, has since disappeared, reigniting anger among victims’ families.
The crash occurred near the Mariannhill Toll Plaza when a truck driven by Tega ploughed into more than a dozen vehicles. Two young people were killed and several others were injured. Investigations at the time pointed to reckless driving as the cause of the multi-vehicle collision.
Tega was arrested and later appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court, where he faced two counts of culpable homicide. He was granted R10,000 bail, a decision that drew criticism from the victims’ families, who questioned how a suspect in such a serious case could be released.
Police believe Tega has fled the country and have flagged him at all ports of entry. Authorities say the search will continue until he is traced and brought back to court, as families of the victims continue to demand accountability and justice.

SHUT UP GARRY! 👎🏾
#GaryPlayer must shut up. His recent attacks on Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) are the hypocritical bleatings of a man who feasted at apartheid’s table while millions starved.
Player was apartheid’s golden boy. At the regime’s murderous peak, he counted its architects—Vorster, Botha, Verwoerd’s henchmen—among his closest friends. He accepted their patronage, their prizes, their propaganda tours. While police gunned down children in Soweto, Player jetted abroad, deliberately smashing the international sports boycott that isolated the racist state. He posed for photos with apartheid’s generals, lent his fame to whitewash their crimes, and never once condemned the pass laws, forced removals, or Bantustan prisons that crushed Black lives.
He did not oppose; he endorsed. He did not protest; he profited. In the process, he became fabulously wealthy—cocooned, protected, and promoted by the odious system of apartheid. He was a direct benefactor of crimes against humanity, of the apartheid crime against humanity itself. He was the most advantaged white in a system built to advantage whites. Land, loans, contracts, travel—every privilege flowed to him because of his skin.
History has no blank pages. Now, from his Florida mansion, this apartheid poster-child dares lecture Black South Africans on “merit” and “reverse racism.” Spare us. BEE is modest redress for centuries of theft; Player’s fortune is its direct dividend.
Let white supremacists keep quoting their hero. The rest of us see the racist hypocrite unmasked. Gary Player, do us all a favor—shut up!

Ramokgopa declares end to load-shedding crisis
Minister of Electricity Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa says South Africa has “turned the corner” on the country’s long-standing power crisis, declaring that the days of routine load-shedding are over.
Speaking during the launch of the government’s new Integrated Resource Plan (IRP 2025) in Pretoria on Sunday, Ramokgopa said the focus has now shifted from crisis management to economic growth.
“Now that we have turned the corner on load-shedding, we are addressing the future. Energy ceases to be a crisis it is now a catalyst for growth,” the minister said.
The IRP 2025 outlines a R2.2 trillion investment strategy aimed at expanding South Africa’s energy generation through renewables, gas, and nuclear power. Ramokgopa said the plan is key to ensuring long-term stability in the grid and supporting industrial development.
While optimistic, the minister cautioned that sustaining the current progress requires continued maintenance of Eskom’s generation fleet and investment in transmission infrastructure.
The remarks come after months of consistent electricity supply, with no major load-shedding incidents reported since mid-year, a stark contrast to the rolling blackouts that once crippled the economy.
Ramokgopa’s statement marks a significant shift in tone for government, signalling renewed confidence in the country’s power system after years of uncertainty.
