I don't care if you run a $500k business or a $50M business. If you don't have visibility into what matters, it will come tumbling down. Operating Rhythms (don't invent your own): - Daily huddle - Weekly leadership meeting - Monthly all-hands - Quarterly planning - Annual planning Just take EOS or Scaling Up and copy it. You don't need much else outside of these five rhythms. Systems (unique to your company, but these matter): - Creative supply chain dialed - Product development dialed - Customer feedback at scale - 13-week cash flow - 12-month balance sheet forecast Daily Dashboard (non-negotiable for DTC): - Daily forecasting and progress against forecast - Spend by channel - ROAS or MER - New customer acquisition cost - All customer acquisition cost - Percent new customers - Percent repeat - Percent reacquired over 12 months - Year-over-year growth - Conversion rate - Total sessions Forecast your business by day, by channel. Have a tracker that shows you everything that happened that day. This sounds like a lot of work, but it's how you avoid becoming the bottleneck.

@themgmtconsult It's a great question and I find the debate fascinating. Only time will tell I guess. On the one hand – hell no, crazy for the CEO to be writing code. On the other, a founder this into the detail of his product is unstoppable and I love that.

If I were a Shopify investor, I would be concerned. How on earth is the CEO of the company shipping code?! Is this the highest ROI activity he should be focusing on?! Man, this raises so many questions...
Amit R G@realamitrg

CEO of Shopify @tobi is shipping more code than ever. 2024: 94 commits 2025: 833 commits 2026: 957 commits (in first 45 days of the year) Claude is turning CEOs back to builder mode.

Claude Code is way more than a coding agent. Every CEO and COO should be using it to run or grow your business. If chat helps you 10x human effort, CC is 10x chat (100x human) We use it for - marketing - strategy - BDR - operations - procurement - SEO - Vendor analysis - Trend analysis - financial analysis - execution and task priorities and distribution ... and of course, building software To give you a sense of how much its doing, in the last 30 days, just me personally - Average 750 sessions per day - Average 67 million tokens a day If you aren't aware of how this changes your day/business, reach out. We connected ours with - software - scripts - workflows - data etc.... We are running analysis, creating plans, beefing up personalized sales, assesing operations, analyzing capacity, mini consultants with each of key employees ... and the list goes on. I'll start sharing examples big and small - but if you aren't using it, you should. We have an executive guide to setting up, using, and getting the most out of claude code as an exec.

In November, we ended up being 6% short on last year's revenue 😔 Wait let me rephrase, this November, we were 6% short of our ENTIRE 2024 revenue 😍

@JoeWelstead All good points. I’m all for keeping margin & control, hence we only sell dtc at Naturalmat. But we accept we’ll get in front of a lot fewer people than if we sold through retailers.

Right, but that digital availability is dictated more by spend than by the acquisition channel. Or you could argue it’s dicated by SEO, but I’d argue in this case they’re stealing what should be your traffic. You might say you win when it’s a sale within their ecosystem / existing audience, which is the dream they’ll sell you. But this is exactly where they’ll charge marketing fees for the placement. So you sacrifice 50% of your retail price and the biggest wins come with a price tag?

Can someone give me a rational explanation for why a DTC brand should choose to sell in a 3rd party online-only retailer?

this has been a labor of love with a bunch of fits and starts (busy working!), and we're going to have the guts of our Rallyday Accelerator Program public by year-end (hold me accountable!) - here's the outline w/r/t how we work with our partner companies

if it's a turnaround, break glass; otherwise, our guiding principles: - amplify what's great and do no harm - focus on 1-2 of the most impactful initiatives - meet the company where it's at (ie. understand its maturity to understand what's possible) - invest in people out of the gate; key crucible "culture moments" in the short term and the best way to build an enduring biz over the long term
SMB Attorney@SMB_Attorney

You just bought a business. Break the glass and start making changes? Or “do no harm” until you understand the business?

Disney plus should have a parent mode, where every movie has a 24 hour "cool down" periods you cant play the same movie over and over again, because the characters need to sleep!
