@937theFan @KDPomp @JoeStarkey1 @AustinRBechtold Glad Terry said it. Allar is a classic pocket passer built for a pro style and spread offense and we asked him to be an RPO heavy run offense. Singleton and Allen both ran for 1,000 yards plus and when passing they focused on the tight end. Will Levis had the same issue.

@Genetics56 More to a CBA than money. Another football athlete died during a winter workout this year at Northern Iowa University. Those workouts need regulation and a CBA is the best way to do it. The schools will not do it on their own.

Big Ten information and news
Biggest reason why a CBA may never happen in college athletics - why would an athlete want to cap their earning potential when you want to earn what someone is willing to pay you?

Unpopular opinion: Major sports teams in the same city should adopt the same color scheme because it's objectively way better than not

@PSU_FB_Thoughts Even a bad Men’s Basketball team generates more revenue than all of the other sports other than football. Any legitimate program needs a decent men’s basketball team. Especially in this revenue intensive environment. Investment is needed.

@adamtirapelle For example they could have easily created rules for agents and require qualifications to be approved by the NCAA but they did not. Worst leadership failure in college sports history.

There should be zero exceptions, including religious reasons. Exceptions are how this mess all got started (religious missions, Olympic red shirts, COVID years, etc.). Have a reasonable standard and hold the line. Sometimes shit happens and it's out of your control, but we have to get back to college-age kids playing college sports.
Steve Magness@stevemagness

This is a smart and clean solution to one part of the mess that is college sports. It's what college sports was meant to be. And also makes it where crazy youth parents don't "double redshirt" their kids in junior high...Now, they'll all covert to Mormanism...

@adamtirapelle Sorry, the NCAA’s refusal to properly regulate transfers and NIL from the start is the reason for the current mess. They could have taken their time, gathered all stakeholders and created legal rules that all athletes, conferences and coaches approved and then adjust each year.

@MiamiCanes1971 Reason number 100 why college athletes need a CBA. Stupid coaches and medical staff will not push back.

Not like the Achilles is EXTREMELY delicate at this stage and a slip off the scooter could end his football and basketball career forever… my son is leaving the school Instantly. You clearly don’t care about his future or well being. This isn’t cute or funny. It’s Dumb as Hell, Fran Brown

@slmandel I thought they are grown men and pros now. Malone should be the best choice. So which is it, amateur or pro?

UNC is going to spend $18M/yr on a pair of coaches (Bill B and Malone) with one year of college HC experience between them. Maybe Malone will be great, who knows. But you'd think the Belichick NFL-to-CFB experiment would give them *some* pause about NBA-to-CBB. Apparently not.

@Geo_Baker_1 Good point and all athletic programs have very talented support staff for academics, mental health, career planning and professional networking. Some athletes take full advantage of this help and some do not. Same holds true for all college students. The services are available.

Your point doesn’t matter. Power 5 athletes were given the world before NIL. The let down was already happening! Now these young adults will get a nice stack of savings to start out in the real world. Will some of them be bad with their money? Yes. Will some of them struggle after college? Yes. That’s life. That is not an argument for NIL payments to stop 🤣
Chas. Wolfe@highmajorscoop

When the Basketball Stops Bouncing: You’re 25. Just finished 5years of D1 basketball. Made 6+ figures. Transferred 3.5 times. Got a General Studies degree. No NBA. Now what? No more NIL! Are you ready for a 9–5 & work 2,080hrs? Did you save $$$?! Are you READY for the let down?

@highmajorscoop In addition, modern day athletic programs have amazing support staff that provide athletes with financial literacy, counseling/mental health , academic support, career advice and connections. Ask your college team what they provide.

@highmajorscoop Why do people care all of a sudden now that athletes are making money. These issues have existed forever and now people pretend to care cause the athletes have money and movement. At least now some of them have a little money in their pocket.

@TomKrisko @PSUBarstool Men’s Basketball is your next big money maker after football. Even a poor team makes more than the others no matter how popular they are. And these days you must drive the revenue to afford everything else. So competitive Men’s basketball is important whether fans come or not.

Ding. Ding. Ding. It’s not the top kids that this system will fail. It’s the kids who make $500k and then $600k. They graduate, their careers sputter out and then go to get an office job and make $75k. What are they going to do then. The ncaa won’t care…

@Coach_Hickey5 The next level athletes that you are referring to have always taken school seriously and are working on plan B after college. Try and find a way to actually spend time with college athletes. Most have good parents and role models to help them post college. 1/2
