SDUI is delighted to announce the success of the 6th Annual Symposium (SAS 6), held on Saturday, 18/04, at the Clayton Hotel Liffey Valley, Dublin. The event brought together 33 speakers, panellists, and chairs from RCSI, RCPI, IMC, HSE, MPS, NHS, CHI, the Institute of Global Health at the University of Geneva, and GOAL. There was an extraordinary turnout of doctors and public health specialists, creating a dynamic platform for engagement and exchange of knowledge and experience. Faculty gained valuable insight into the impact of three years of war on Sudan’s healthcare system and its workforce. They also acknowledged that, despite the stress and demands of professional and personal lives, Sudanese doctors continue to serve with dedication and compassion within Irish hospitals while advancing their careers. Discussions explored practical ways Ireland can support Sudanese doctors, particularly in the areas of education, training, and wellbeing. There was strong engagement around building meaningful collaborations and identifying areas for assistance. Importantly, Faculty expressed their appreciation for the contribution of Sudanese doctors within the Irish healthcare system. It was highlighted that approximately 40% of doctors in Ireland are international medical graduates (IMGs), with Sudan ranking among the top three countries of origin. The symposium also provided a valuable opportunity for social networking, bringing together all generations—from interns to retired doctors—in a truly inclusive and collegial atmosphere. My sincere thanks go to everyone who contributed to this achievement—those who attended, lectured, and worked tirelessly behind the scenes to organize the event. نظّمت الهيئة النقابية للأطباء السودانيين بأيرلندا مؤتمرها السنوي السادس (SAS 6) تحت شعار: From Survival to Thriving: Supporting Well-being in Challenging Times في تظاهرة علمية متميزة وغير مسبوقة، شهد المؤتمر حضور أكثر من 200 طبيب سوداني مقيم في أيرلندا، بالإضافة إلى نخبة من الضيوف والمتحدثين من الكليات الملكية الأيرلندية المختلفة، والمجلس الطبي الأيرلندي، ومنظمة GOAL. وعلى رأس الحضور: • الدكتورة Suzanne Crowe، رئيسة المجلس الطبي الأيرلندي • الدكتورة Deborah McNamara، رئيسة الكلية الملكية للجراحين في أيرلندا • البروفيسور Arnold Hill، عميد كلية الطب في الكلية الملكية للجراحين في أيرلندا • الدكتور Diarmaid O’Shea، رئيس الكلية الملكية للأطباء في أيرلندا • الوزير Jack Chambers، وزير الإنفاق العام في الحكومة الأيرلندية ناقش المؤتمر الوضع الصحي في السودان، وقضايا القوى العاملة، وتأثير الحرب على الأطباء السودانيين نفسيًا وماديًا، إلى جانب ما تسببت به من تأخير في فرص التطور العلمي والمهني. كما استمع الحضور إلى تجارب مؤثرة لأربعة من الأطباء، تناولوا فيها فترات اندلاع الحرب وما تلاها من تحديات وتجارب إنسانية ومهنية. كما ناقش المؤتمر الفرص والدعم الذي يمكن أن يقدّمه كلٌّ من المجلس الطبي الأيرلندي، والحكومة الأيرلندية، والكليات الملكية، لدعم الأطباء السودانيين. وشكّل المؤتمر منصة مهمة للأطباء لعرض بحوثهم وأوراقهم العلمية، والتي تم تقييمها من قبل لجنة علمية رفيعة المستوى، ضمّت اختصاصيين من ثلاثة تخصصات مختلفة. واختُتم المؤتمر بتكريم البحوث العلمية الفائزة، وتقديم كلمات الشكر والتقدير لكل من ساهم في تنظيم المؤتمر، من مشاركين وضيوف وشركات راعية.
