He was transferred from Rikers Island to Elmhurst Hospital yesterday evening, where he was receiving medical attention. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones as they endure this profound loss. Every person in our city’s care deserves dignity, safety, and access to quality medical treatment—without exception. Transparency is essential and the Department of Correction and oversight partners have begun an investigation into the circumstances of his death.

@BlueBoxDave Not true. This issue has NEVER BEEN HEARD AT SCOTUS prior to this week. It’s not a resolved issue. It never “began” in a constitutional sense. If SCOTUS rules in favor of the originalist view, Congress could grandfather everyone in. But going forward would be/should be different.
