Our head has introduced a new policy to improve retention: When a member of staff leaves, they have to sing karaoke in front of the whole school as part of their leaver's assembly. Trialled at Christmas when @PriTeachMrJ left. No resignations since 😆

@kash645 @HalilMrT4Real Our school is a family too. No Someone once told me I was wrong to call it that, because ‘you can’t fire your mother-in-law!’ But the best families still challenge & have difficult conversations because they care deeply about wanting the best for each member.

@HalilMrT4Real This is lovely. We were told in no uncertain terms that we’re no longer allowed to use the word’ family’ when speaking about our school and work colleagues because apparently it’s ‘unprofessional!’ Yet another reason why this coming year will be my last in my current school 😤

Today I told my school staff/family that we are where we are not only because of what we do day in day out.... ....But also because of the positive impact people have made here who have since moved on to other roles outside of the school! So.... I asked them to get their phones out and message them 🤳 ... To tell them we miss them 🫂, to thank them 🙏🏼, to tell them we love them ❤️!! It was such a beautiful and positive start to our new academic year! #FeelingGrateful #StandingOnTheShouldersOfGiants

Heard of a recent inspection of a very big school with only two inspectors. Anyone else seeing so few? This could be disastrous. How can two inspectors inspect a secondary school accurately in the timeframe?

@MPboro2 I have a child in sch- this is my list, not all actually happens. Ideal would be - child led drop ins to show work, outdoor learning weekly, excursions 2x a term, 1 hour play with loads of equipment, no homework, HT that is at the gate every day & knows every child’s name

@Oldprimaryhead1 I hear you! We’re 5 years now. Our website provider told us 2 weeks ago that they have an algorithm that tracks when Ofsted are looking at our site and they ‘had tracked similar activity to that of Ofsted’ so we’ve been on high alert! Nothing! Nada! It’s really not healthy!

Well overdue Ofsted… lots coming up locally and every time I hear of one I check when they were last inspected compared to my school… I’m down to two months… I realise this is not a healthy thing to do.

@ClareCampbell7 @stacey_birchall @ProudlyPastoral Agreed. We now have Nurture Spaces, Counselling areas, sensory rooms, forest school, baking room and various therapies. Last year was hard and it continues to be but definitely much better fourfields.cambs.sch.uk/The-Nest/

@stacey_birchall @ProudlyPastoral Yes, we had 6 exclusions from September to October at my new school, since I started on 1st November and implemented the changes there have been 0 exclusions. Less children in crises, less meltdowns, calmer classrooms, happier staff, happier parents. It is a whole school approach

Has behaviour taken a huge dip for everyone else recently? General conduct of kids around school lately has been really poor.

@WatsEd Love this 👏 It must be horrendously difficult to narrow it down. Hip hop is hard as so many influential songs aren't appropriate, but lots to pick from. With K-pop - BTS don't go by Beyond the scene. I'll probably swap out 2NE1 for Stray Kids or Twice,but some top choices.
