@euboid @helloitsolly Really awesome to hear you guys are working this out. I had my cofounder steal our codebase and start his own version of our app, in direct competition with me whilst he was being paid a full time salary

Just had a long heart to heart with @helloitsolly and I'm so glad we took your advice. Here's what I'm thinking right now: #1. I don't want to quit building Senja We both believe we've built something incredible and we both know this can be truly life-changing if we keep going, no matter what form that may take. #2. We can't continue working the way we currently do Something needs to change for the business to stay alive. We're exploring three options. 1. We try coaching, try to iron out our disagreements and continue working with each other. 2. One of us sells their share, and the other person keeps building the business. 3. We both sell and move on to something else (though at the time of writing this, I really don't want to do this). Above everything else we want to keep our friendship in tact. We've forgiven each other for the things we said and did. Most interesting takeaway from sharing this with the #buildinpublic community is that our case is not special. So many other founders have gone through, and are currently going through similar situations We just need to step back and spend more time thinking about what we really want from the business and our lives. For now, I'll continue working on refining @SenjaHQ. Thanks folks ✌️

@sweatystartup @bandholz Nah this ain’t worth it. No legal grounds to base anything on. The merchant made the mistake. It’s happened to me too with my ecom store. It’s just disappointing people have no moral compass when they used the discount code

@bandholz I'd send each of them a legal notice requiring they send back the goods or send you the money. This is robbery and you shouldn't have to eat this.

Ugh, business is so humbling. Had a 100% off testing coupon code created way back in 2017 leak, and there were ~$32k of orders placed we missed. 🤦‍♂️

@John_Speed Yeah I’m just tired of seeing founders who work so damn hard being held hostage, since customers know how important reviews are. Especially how bad reviews can destroy someone’s hard work. When will it stop unless we say no that’s not cool what you are doing.

@hellodouglim Yeah, you might be right. I’m comfortable I made the right decision for me this time around but I’ll consider a different approach next time. I certainly don’t like the idea that they can just install my other apps and try to do the same thing to me or others.

Customers aren't always right. I had a customer email threatening to leave a bad review if I didn't refund 12 months of their service. Kind of left me with no choice but to just process the refund with a smile - which I did. Feels pretty much like extortion though.
