After weeks of heat, Bengaluru’s heaviest-ever April rain should have brought relief— instead, it killed 10 and paralysed the city. This was not nature alone, but years of civic neglect, poor planning, and zero preparedness. Rains did not fail Bengaluru, governance did.🌧️

@AdityaRajKaul She’s terrified not of just losing! She’s terrified of all the exotic creatures that will come crawling out of her Pandora’s box after the defeat! Many might swallow her whole!!

@orgyanesh In the first few years when I went abroad (2007) I drove recklessly just like in India! Within the first year I had 3 fines costing me nearly 25k (INR) and nearly lost my license! I’m a responsible driver now! We Indians learn better when penalized

These are things to aspire for. Every Indian (or African or Latino) is entitled to these. But if you think carefully, you will find that most of these are not Congress/BJP issues. If only we change. Throwing garbage, bad driving -> 100000+ deaths each year, reckless honking, queue jumping, playing mobiles in public buses, not respecting personal space, boorish behaviour and 100 other things, if removed, can solve 90% of problems that make India a "hellhole" and UK a paradise. Without costing a single rupee. In fact, saving crores and crores.

I paid close to 40% tax in the UK! I got fresh air Beautiful green spaces / every road was one! Regulated traffic Good roads / clean roads I could see the sky studded with stars from my home (now I see the neighbours building) My neighbor would have to take permission from all neighbours to elevate/alter his house (lest he obstruct sunlight / ventilation for us) and often fail! My rubbish bins and even garden waste collected on time I drank tap water and it tasted divine! Good quality groceries I swam in the local council pools (govt pools) which were temperature controlled! More importantly I had time to enjoy this all! P.S I love India to bits! And there’s a good reason why I came back…despite this!

@priyanshyam @apwamit Take the metro station for eg. The same dirty selfish Indians don’t dare throw any garbage - it’s spotless! What made the difference?

@hemsdoc @apwamit We Indians are so selfish that we want our house to be clean but throw trash next door.No government can teach civic sense and responsibility it’s self taught and we are the worst group of people to follow rules.I love India but this is undeniable truth

@apwamit Why so? We citizens are not assertive about our rights! We have been taking things lying down! Don’t underestimate the power of collective action

@hemsdoc @sivarajan2016 That’s a lie and pure show off. No one left UK for the Sun or temples. There are enough temples and arguably the food too. You left because you didn’t get a job as a Consultant endocrinologist in the NHS. Nothing else.

@horabonny Bangalore has daily pick up! Yet rubbish is all over the roads! Independent Homes don’t have bins we can leave out to be emptied! Once a week is good enough if dependable

@MiteshJ85 Unfortunately the employability vs quality of life disconnect is very very bad in India! Good life - work sucks! Work is good - life sucks!

@hemsdoc You can easily find such a place in hill stations in India and also in south there are many such locations. Sadly our major cities are concrete jungles.
