@sportingnews Intense coaching? Looks like Frese berating her player, finger in face, close range scream. ‘Believe in you’ doesn’t erase the aggression. This is toxic coach energy, not motivation. Player takes it because power dynamic, but headlines coming for a reason.

Reasonable assertions with which I don't agree. Totally reasonable to have the opinion, though. My point was that far too many people say "I'd be willing to bet" or similar far more often than they are actually willing to place wagers on said assertions. This is something that @abarber1 and I have actually had a handful of conversations about, and he can absolutely explain this far better than I

The poll found that only 2% worry about “affording” taxes. But for the bottom 50%, taxes are about 18% of gross income; for the median earner, 26%, and more for the top half. The only category of spending that rivals taxes is housing, so it makes no sense that almost no one worries about it. The explanation is in the wording of the poll. “Afford” implies choice. If you can’t afford something, you can decide to not buy it. But taxes are mandatory; there is no affordability decision per se. Taxes (payroll, state & federal income) are the only expense paid before take-home pay is considered, and people base affordability based on … take-home pay. My point is if you ask the question a better way, you’ll likely get a much different answer. “Which category of expense would you least like to go up by 20%?” would likely elicit more than 50% of responses to include taxes, instead of the 2% the poorly-phrased poll found. The conclusion drawn from the flawed poll was: politicians shouldn’t worry about raising taxes to offset expenses like childcare and healthcare. I think that is an error. While I am in favor of, for example, raising capital gains tax rates and income tax rates on top earners from 37% to 39.6% to fund such initiatives, concluding from this poorly-framed poll that the broad public wouldn’t mind paying more taxes for more services is a dubious proposition.

Feel like this point from @Nate_Cohn on "affordability" has important implications for elected officials considering whether to spend trillions of dollars on middle-class tax cuts or other priorities like child care or health care.

I think this may be a framing issue. People don’t think about “affording” taxes. They are usually just deducted = largely invisible and are mandatory, so not a “buying” decision. Ask what “item” they would least like to go up 5% and would most like to go down 5%, and I’ll bet most people rank taxes higher than gas, food, and maybe even housing.

need to discuss the jamming 20-30bbs with small pairs from blinds versus late open. wouldn't they just correctly call with KJo and KTs JTs QJo and A9o and 66-99 all day. and when you have QQ+ you never shove so your 22-66 is only balanced by some occasional AK and 99 etc? can you break this down. (assuming the opener knows that you will jam a lot of small pairs).

16 reasons you lose money in tournament poker: - Calling wider multi-way because you’re “getting better odds” - Opening more hands in early position when stacks are deep - Flatting raises preflop instead of 3 betting to “see cheap flops” - Avoiding flips - Avoiding small bets because you don’t want to look weak - Jamming every combo draw on the flop - Refusing to 3-bet jam small pairs (25–30bb) from the blinds vs late opens - Using your own preflop strategy instead of referencing charts - Flatting the big blind wider when deep stacked - Playing tighter from the big blind when short-stacked - Avoiding squeezing and 4 betting because you think keeping the pot small will help you play longer - Flatting many offsuit hands deep or multi-way - Talking about your “tournament life” in Level 1 - Only check-raising 2 pair+ from the big blind - Only discussing hands you lost - Thinking you played well every time you win and that you did something wrong when you lose

That Purdue loss locks it up. Regardless of what happens tomorrow, the most Big Ten wins in the 2020’s? Illinois. With a win tomorrow the margin will be two wins going into 2026-27.
