WSOP - World Series of Poker@WSOP

Shaun Deeb's 15th-place finish in the WSOP Main Event earned him $410,475 and 365 POY points, moving him back into second place in the WSOP Player of the Year race. He immediately registered for multiple events after his elimination. When questioned about jumping right back into tournaments, @shaundeeb summed up his approach: "That mental state is why I'm in contention every POY race since 2017. No tourney is too big, no tourney is too small. Treat it like Pokémon. Gotta play 'em all."

Thank you so much to everyone for all the support over the last few days. I've had so many people reach out and wish me good luck. It's truly heartwarming knowing there are so many people across the world rooting for me. I've tried my best to thank and respond to each and every person, apologies if I missed anyone. Should be a fun final table, I can't wait!

Most people don’t even understand how overly deserving you are of this opportunity. Almost 10 years we’ve had the pleasure of working with you to improve the game and you’ve represented at the highest level. Who else shows up to TDA to give feedback and represent the players? You’ve been our go to for all things @BetMGMPoker. Great player, great ambassador of poker and a great person over all. Take this shit down!

The science strongly supports ending the twice-yearly clock changes. Where the debate begins is which time should be permanent. Most sleep and circadian experts favor permanent standard time, not permanent daylight saving time, because morning light is the strongest cue for aligning our biological clocks. As @hubermanlab has noted, we often confuse what feels good (later sunsets) with what is biologically optimal (earlier morning light).
Breaking911@Breaking911

BREAKING: The House has passed legislation to make Daylight Saving Time permanent nationwide, ending the twice-a-year clock changes by a 308-117 vote. Backed by President Trump, the bill now heads to the Senate. If approved and signed into law, Americans would no longer have to change their clocks.

The explosive diarrhea-causing cyclosporiasis outbreak has now spread to 31 states, with nearly 7,000 potential cases. Last year, RFK ordered the CDC's Foodborne Diseases Active Surveillance Network to stop tracking cyclosporiasis.

What’s scary about the cyclospora outbreak is that the cdc isn’t tracing, so the manufacturer/supplier is likely still unknowingly producing cyclospora infected products. No recalls in sight, no solution in sight. Just explosive diarrhea

Ok hear me out: instead of all of us having to become extremely knowledgeable on a new infectious disease every 3-6 months, what if we got a large group of experts together and just put them in charge of giving us easy to understand health recommendations. They could also do things like track outbreaks and predict future concerns.

E. Jean Carroll was just paid more than $5.6 million by the sitting president of the United States after a jury found him liable for sexually abusing her and a federal judge clarified that what he did was rape. That should be the biggest story in the country today. The president raped a woman. She took him to court. And she won. VIA @theZachBerger

I don’t know u but u seem to have a following in poker so I’ll answer u instead of the 100s of other trolls on here accusing me of lying. I was not staked for wsop. Luckily, I paid out the people who had small pieces of my modest wins this summer before the robbery took place.

I'm sorry to hear this happened. Sounds like a terrible story. I've been trying to make sense of it, and a lot of it just isn't adding up to me. Do you mind answering the following questions: 1) Were you backed by anyone for WSOP? Did you sell pieces to anyone of your Main Event, which you cashed $57.5k on July 10? 2) Did you tell anyone -- either in person or via text -- that you were going to cash out fully after busting The Closer? 3) Did you tell anyone at the time that you just busted The Closer? 4) How do you know the perps got in via the Airbnb code, rather than prying open a door or window? 5) Why didn't you pick up your other cash that you won prior to the Main? Why did you leave it all to the very end? 6) How do you think the perps knew that you didn't pick up your $57.5k upon busting on the 10th, and instead knew to go after you on the 12th after The Closer event? 7) If you think this was a possible setup by WSOP employees, how do you think they knew your Airbnb address, how did they get the code, and why would they have targeted the 218th place finisher, rather than someone carrying substantially more cash? 8) Would you be willing to provide the name of the LVMPD detective investigating this, in case anyone has any information to provide? 9) Since you were hogtied, who found you that way, and who called police? While obviously you don't have to answer any of my questions, the community is clearly very concerned about this matter, and it would be nice for everyone to get some clarification, so we could better assess how much the public is in danger.

This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days. ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.

As I said before, I am very pro timebanks in the main, but introducing them mid tourney is crazy. The "does it help recs or pros" conversation is glossing over a few key things: The first impact of a shot clock is that your brain now has to play a completely new game in addition to poker which is called "manage your time effectively." When you're taking a timed standardized test, most of your brain is trying to figure out answers, but some % of your brain is also constantly checking the time, evaluating whether it's strategically beneficial to speed up and answer more qs or to slow down and make fewer mistakes. This is a separate process that takes brain power and must run in parallel. Time management is a strategy game, just like poker. Often times a poker decision is very close, and I decide that it's worth more EV to save a timebank than it is to try to squeeze out some extra equity by thinking longer. Sometimes, I choose to burn timebanks on purpose to balance timing tells. Sometimes, I burn them to stall. It's a complicated game that requires thought, and like all games the more experience you have with it, the more it becomes second nature and can run in the background. If you're encountering this game for the first time, it will take up a disproportionate amount of your mind share. The second impact is added stress. Putting a timer on some people causes their brains to short circuit, and for others it doesn't faze them at all. Even if you give them tons of time, most people feel the effects psychologically. I think this is generally a GOOD thing - I find that shot clocks make most players act quicker even before they get close to the buzzer (i.e. folding in 2 seconds instead of in 5 seconds), although there are a couple players who chose to methodically take the whole clock every time. But again, introducing this in a huge equity spot as a surprise is so much worse than having it from the beginning where players have a few days to psychologically acclimate to the feeling of being timed. The third impact is speeding up the game, which obviously benefits better players as you see more hands, but I think that is a good and reasonable outcome, because more hands in general is more enjoyable and better for viewing. Furthermore, it homogenizes the number of hands each table plays, which is fairer. Then lastly, the question of whether the extra thinking time benefits pros or recs more is sort of a wash. High Roller pros benefit from more time because they think much more deeply about the game, while many recs have very simplistic ideas about poker and think the game is straightforward. On the other hand, High Roller pros are also much more used to the shot clocks and much more experienced with tough spots. Kind of a wash, I think. The players who are hurt the most are smart, thinking players who have studied some, but are not high stakes pros and have never been under the bright lights and big stage before. These players benefit a lot from extra time, and having several minutes to slowly work their way to a satisfying choice is very beneficial. In backgammon, (where time pressure is a standard part of the game) I am such a player - I play much, much better with extra time, while I think extremely good and extremely bad players improve much less.
