Because I am a Fair person, I will say that the POTUS probably does need an event space. Many presidents have noted this, and security is becoming ever-more important.

Really, in practical effect, Democrats should love that trade. Here in Wisconsin, it's not like voter ID has hurt them. Most Republicans seem to think some massive share of the Dem vote is illegitimate and voter ID would knock that out, but it's just not empirically true.
