@DinoArchie @VogueTheatre Thanks man! We were there second row in 2020 and hoping to do so again!

@hmaxwellium That’s a good question, I’ll inquire @VogueTheatre

We’re at half capacity cause of that bitch ass restriction meaning only 100 tickets left we’re still turning up though bit.ly/3048hvW 🎫dailyhive.com/vancouver/vanc…

@VaxHuntersCan According to this there are still appointments TWENTY MINS from now for first responders, those that work with children, grocery workers etc. vchcovid19vaccine.com/locations/van-…

@extrachewy @CityofVancouver I've never seen the one in Johnathan Rogers park filled but this one (pre-Covid) was every summer.
English

Hey #Vancouver - what are these things, anyway? Common in parks, always with 4 benches, and made from a variety of concrete that would shred knees instantly. @CityofVancouver

@travisgertz Stu @lackthereof0 took it up for the first time. Great pandemic activity!

@WannabeEinstein We’ve been denied at the four other closest that were accepting cross boundary applications so not sure what choice we actually have.
English

Our #vsb39 options for backup schools are one that is an 18 min walk away or one that is a 63 min walk away. And we only get to confirm our preference. No guarantee.
English

@AnthonyFloyd @VanDPAC @janetrfraser @pattibacchus Same situation here. Denied everywhere. Also leading us to have to plan child and after school care in mere weeks when we all know anything kid related in Vancouver has wait lists of years.
English

We’ve been denied kindergarten at all 5 cross boundary (ie the 5 closest schools next to our catchment that we’re still possibly accepting), so what’s next? #vsb39
English

@tanyaofmars my 5 year old daughter would love one! Her Nana is the Outreach Coordinator and amateur astronomer with the Royal Astronomical Society In Canada, specifically Kelowna BC. We are big into the solar system and finding ways to represent it.
English

@VSB39 Can you explain what “enrolling educational space means” and if that is intended for this September or next? We are still so far on the waitlist we are unlikely to get in, but one additional classroom would be a big help and get us over the edge!

Metro Vancouver, if we want to avoid having school lotteries like this again next year, and the year after that, and the year after that, then please help keep the conversation going, especially with elected decision-makers and the media.
It’s the only way things will change.

Our family is frustrated & demoralized tonight. 10+ years ago we chose a downtown Vancouver home specifically to start a family literally right across the street from where the new Crosstown Elementary school was to be built. Across the street. Now they won’t let him go there.

@vikkhanna @school_olympic @andrea_coutu Not suggesting they do it alone. Just trying to figure out with our own work commutes can we still keep up the healthy climate friendly choice or walking or are we going to default to the car. :(
English

@hmaxwellium @school_olympic @andrea_coutu Not reasonable for 5yr old; Parent must always accompany.
17 adult mins so that 25 to 30 mins for an adult + child. Is that the "breaking point" on when the parent & child will not walk and hop in the car?
English

Like @andrea_coutu Do you expect the child to walk alone (against rules)? Is a parent coming? Younger siblings? Do the siblings need to get to childcare? Do the parent(s) need to get to work? How many parents does the child have? Where is the route? What does it cross?
Vik Khanna@vikkhanna
What is the MAXIMUM acceptable distance for a kindergarten to grade 3 kid to WALK to school? Reference: It takes a healthy adult 10-12 mins to walk 1km so using 15 min for a 5-7yr old. Also follow: @saferoutesvan
English

@hmaxwellium @VSB39 You can call the school. Don’t expect anyone to reach out until April when they will “place” us.
55 kids left from Fraser
I heard original #15 is now #7. Also choice offerings are still slowly moving as we go through 48 hour cycles.
Has anybody just given up and moved yet?
English

When do we get an update on what number we are now on the waitlist after @VSB39 announcement today? Still anxious over here. Any idea @school_olympic?
English

Wondering how much a portable costs at our catchment school versus the amount twenty parents are going to be paying in extra gas/transit/insurance costs to get to a further location. Maybe we can all pitch in? #vsb39
