@RoadSafetyBC I know they didn't intend to help demonstrate how inaccessible BC is but not only have they highlighted an example of inaccessibility but by being so unaware of the problem with their choice of video, they have demonstrated how normalized inaccessibility is.

Devastating. At tonight’s Park Board Meeting, staff reported that they are not planning for the reinstallation of a bike lane on #StanleyPark Drive in time for summer 2024 - there are significant challenges… including impacts to other priority works and no funding available.

I felt feisty today so I went on CKNW & declared that we should get rid of the horse carriage. I mean, SO many drivers complained about getting stuck behind the horse carriage - we really should listen to them and get it out of their way…

Staff are reporting back to the Park Board at tomorrow night's meeting about the Stanley Park Mobility Study & the bike lane. It's often asserted that there's no need for a bike lane on the road because of the sea wall bike path, but it's frequently closed, especially in winter.

It’s my beautiful son Dev’s heavenly 14th Birthday today (forever 8 💛). I cannot describe the pain of losing a child, it never leaves you. Road deaths are preventable, we all need to work together to prevent this tragedy happening on our roads every single day. #RoadSafety

Let’s be clear here. Tricia Barker is accusing families and children of “playing games” when they are fighting for safe access to park and schools. This is a direct attack on every family in Vancouver that doesn’t feel safe on our roads. This is no game Tricia.#vanpoli

#OpenBeachAveExit is not about getting rid of the bike lane. It's about restoring the exit from Stanley Park so EVERYONE can comfortably enjoy the park. Cycle activists are playing games with the intent of the concept. How about we prioritize access for all? #StanleyParkForAll

Listening tonight's Park Board Meeting & to @ThomasDigby1 speaking to his motion re fire risk in #StanleyPark and he just suggested staff might consider the need for a fire access lane that could double as a bike lane! I LOVE IT!

@VanPoliMorphus Understand. Just commenting on you mocking cyclists using this facility that might have to walk their bike. It came across as ableist. Also, It’s well documented that many people like having another option around the park especially when the Seawall is crowded. Good day!

Dave 🫤🤔😬 on politics and whatever
@saferoutesvan Absolutely, and that is an issue, but that's not what the issue was, as presented. It was the assertion that there are masses of crowds walking bikes along the seawall because Park Dr lane has been removed.

Perfect analysis. God forbid a cyclist should have to dismount so as not to run over pedestrians. The horror. 🙄

@j_mcelroy I’m impressed by the handful of cyclists squawking about the jam up on holiday weekends having to walk (ick!) their bikes at a pedestrian zone. Wondering how these people manage to use the bathroom or eat while simultaneously riding since the idea of dismounting is so revolting.

Okay okay if anyone on this hell site is actually interested in data & facts about the well-documented problems with the #StanleyPark sea wall bike path check out the unimplemented 2012 (!) Stanley Park Cycling Plan which contains a handy summary of all the issues. #BikeYVR

Misinfo divides us. It exploits fears, amplifies biases and erodes trust. Let's combat it with critical thinking, media literacy and respectful dialogue. Together, we can bridge divides, build understanding and create a more informed and united society.

This modal filter on Beach Ave at Vancouver House is clearly signed but routinely ignored by drivers. I’ll start worrying about cyclists rolling through stop signs once motorists have got their own house in order.
OPP Central Region@OPP_CR

Stop signs are for everyone - INCLUDING cyclists. Yes, you can get a ticket for not stopping at a stop sign on a bike. Road users, cyclists & motorists share safety responsibilities while using the roadways. #cyclesafe #drivesafe #communitysafety @TownOfCaledon #CaledonOPP ^im
