This week’s #onlywithHCR Spotlight features Matt Benton (@DrMattBenton), Erik Clark (@ErickClark01), and Margherita Battistara (@MBattistara)! “The fact that [#HCRimaging] is so easily applied to non-model organisms (where FISH usually doesn’t work well) has allowed us to pursue research directions that weren’t possible before.” The stunning image below generated by Matt features a Drosophila embryo with nuclei in grey and the following RNA targets: wingless (orange), engrailed (cyan), sloppy-paired 1 (magenta), and odd-skipped (green). Check out their article on @eLife here: doi.org/mzpz

This week’s Research Spotlight is on the Schulte et al. (2023) publication, “HCR spectral imaging: 10-plex, quantitative, high-resolution RNA and protein imaging in highly autofluorescent samples.” Schulte et al. illustrate 10-plex RNA imaging #withHCR in their whole-mount zebrafish embryos and mouse brain sections. Check out their research here: doi.org/ksd8

This week’s Research Spotlight is on the Lopéz et al. (2023) publication, “Molecular characterization of nervous system organization in the hemichordate Saccoglossus kowalevskii!” #HCRimaging enabled Lopéz et al. to characterize the expression of multiple neural markers, which revealed S. kowalevskii’s strong regional specialization of its nervous system. Read their work with the @Lab_lowe in more detail here: doi.org/j4mz

This week's #FluorescenceFriday user is @alexbuck1ey! Alex studies how the clustered protocadherin locus is regulated differently in diverse cell types. #HCRimaging enables Alex to map how developmental changes affect expression of different protocadherins on a single-cell level.
