@Adaptablemew Hasan went all the way to France and commentated a race because his friend Ludwig was in it. and Ludwig is now saying he wouldn't even go to Hasan's funeral. what a cold person. actual snake.

I swear there was this light switch that flipped in his head around the trash tastes banning Hasan moment because now I feel like he never says political shit anymore and if he does it's in opposition of Hasan, like what is he doing man like TikTok and YT shorts is your news now?

@adamwathan I think it would be fine if the slack stops after the first $10mil in lost sales tax 🤷‍♀️. At some point "cutting slack" is just redistribution of wealth from government/the people towards shareholders/VCs.

(It's good that America is this way to be clear — it's important that it's easy to start new companies and to feel like you're doing it somewhere where the government wants you to succeed and will cut you some slack.)

Founded 10 years ago, $9B valuation, will only start worrying about sales tax next month. The European mind cannot comprehend.

The Deel story is a great example of why putting the smartest founders in a YC batch together is such an unfair advantage. They broke out of pivot hell by paying close attention to how another YC startup wanted to use their product, and shifted the entire direction of the company based on that feedback. Congrats on the crazy growth to $17B in just 6 years since the batch @Bouazizalex @shuooo!
Alex Bouaziz@Bouazizalex

Deel has raised $300M at a $17.3B valuation We started about 6 years ago, struggling to even make $10K. I've never shared this before because of how embarrassing our start was. The story of how we went from $1K to $1B and the advice I'd give to my younger self:

@BallaTheSenior @GaryMarcus Today and almost every day I get hallucinations in the form of made-up API methods. I do think there is a distinction to be made though. LLMs have become very good of replaying e.g. IDs in output that come from the input. There, 2023 LLMs had a big hallucination issue as well.

How the tech industry rolls: Almost a million people viewed this May 2023 tweet from Mustafa Suleyman promising that “LLM hallucinations will be largely eliminated by 2025”; many of people believed it (and believed many similar promises from the tech industry). I didn’t — I offered to bet $25k that it would not turn out to true. And it didn’t turn out to be true. Hallucinations are inherent to LLMs. So now? Suleyman is spinning hallucinations as a good thing, (“It is just learning patterns in that information in order to imagine.., and that's what I love about hallucinations; everyone's like hallucinations...na, na, na, hallucinations is the creative bit, that's what we want them to do.") (Sometimes they are helpful, sometimes not; depends on the task.)
Mustafa Suleyman@mustafasuleyman

LLM hallucinations will be largely eliminated by 2025. that’s a huge deal. the implications are far more profound than the threat of the models getting things a bit wrong today.

@KentonVarda @dsp_ this approach would work so much better if MCP tools could specify a return schema so the LLM can write more complex programs more confidently

OK folks, today is the day when I reveal what this tweet was about. We made MCP work better by: 1. Convert the MCP tools into a TypeScript API 2. Tell the agent to write code against this API We call it "code mode" It uses a new feature in Workers: Dynamic Worker Loading
Kenton Varda@KentonVarda

Me: Sunil, I think everyone using MCP wrong. What if they did [new approach], enabled by [unannounced new Workers feature]? Sunil: Makes sense, I'll add support for that to agents-sdk tomorrow and we can try it out.

@karrisaarinen How do you deal with bugs that are definitely real but don't have the info to reproduce? Also feel like that only works in teams with abundance of talent to dig through the deepest layers of the stack.

@KentonVarda Do people think they are complicated? Most everyone I know avoids building with them, as they are a primitive that doesn't exist outside Cloudflare and thus cause extreme vendor lock-in.

After struggling for years trying to figure out why people think Durable Objects are complicated, I'm increasingly convinced that it's just that they *sound* complicated. Feels like we can solve 90% of it by renaming `DurableObject` to `StatefulWorker`?

@imnotbreno @skydotcs There's also no shame in updating a LinkedIn, even though "hardcore tech people" often act like it. In reality, people I see in interviews that have no LinkedIn often have a significantly worse salary profile (~20-30% lower) to their just-as-qualified counterparts.

@imnotbreno @skydotcs I think for someone looking primarily to find a similar exotic position as his current one and having such a decentralized network, I think a blog post is the best way to cast a wide net and find what he's looking for.

@RokePere @caveposter @skydotcs It's not just me but what everyone has been reporting in my extended network. Yes, the market is shit for juniors, but for senior/staff engineers (usually the cutoff is around ~5 years experience) the offers have been as good as they've always been.

@RokePere @caveposter @skydotcs Source: Inbound offers for what he's been looking for have been decent over the last 12 months, as demand for Rust engineers with ~10 years experience is high. And he has a profile that's a few orders of magnitude better than mine.

@RokePere @caveposter @skydotcs He'll be fine. It's uncertain whether he'll find a similar pure compiler engineering job like the current one, as that was a rarity even in a good job market. He'll have a decent time in finding a remote general industry job.

@skydotcs @shidoxo If you were seriously wondering why he hasn't found a job yet, I'm sorry for misunderstanding 🙏 I was just seeing so many hallmarks of engagement farming + replies from bluechecks going "Rust bad, Mozilla bad, pronouns bad" that I wanted to call out that interpretation.

@CHUBBYdotAI @caveposter @skydotcs Engagement farming can come in the form of trying to dunk. Interpreting that as a HR comment is your (charitable) interpretation, but OP is also highlighting things like their industry exclusions which isn't compatible with that.
