Following his 9-year stint with Atlanta, Bob Horner went to Japan for the 1987 season and became one of NPB’s most awesome sluggers, hitting .327/.423/.683 (1.106 OPS) with 31 HR and 73 RBI in just 93 games and 303 AB. It earned him another shot in MLB for 1988. RIP legend 💔

Rest in peace, Bob Horner 😔 Condolences to his family and friends… he was a fan favorite, an iconic power hitter of the 1980s, and adored by a nationwide TBS audience for his efficient swing, monster home runs, and middle-of-the-order tag team with Dale Murphy RIP 💔

@hwinkler4real THE BEST!!!! Shame on The Motion Picture Academy for snubbing the obvious Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Ensemble nominations. It’s a stain on the Academy that deserves a fulsome apology to right this wrong. “Idea Man, Love Brokers. ⭐️

The NYC Basketball History Project
THE STRUGGLE TO HONOR CONNIE HAWKINS Efforts to re-name the basketball courts at St. Andrew’s Playground in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, to forever commemorate NBA Hall of Famer and local legend Connie "The Hawk" Hawkins have faced ongoing community debate and bureaucratic delays. Hawkins was born July 17, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York. Despite his roots at Boys High School and status as a Brooklyn basketball icon, proposals to honor him at this specific Bed-Stuy location have been met with resistance from some local groups. Hard to imagine! A sympathetic group of local residents has sought to re-name the courts to honor Connie Hawkins. Other long-time residents and a local block association are opposed to the the renaming initiative. Despite approval from many community members and support from Brooklyn Borough President's office, the renaming has faced delays in the Community Board process. Connie Hawkins grew up in Bed-Stuy and is recognized as one of the greatest, most talented basketball players in Brooklyn and New York City history. He starred with the Harlem Globetrotters at legendary Rucker Park and although caught up in the gambling scandals of the early 1960's, he was exonerated a few years later. Before the the NBA ban was lifted, Hawkins played for the Harlem Globetrotters (1963–1967) and the ABA's Pittsburgh Pipers (1967–1969), winning the inaugural ABA MVP award. The great Connie Hawkins was finally allowed to play in the NBA at the start of the 1969–1970 season. The NBA settled his lawsuit in June 1969, allowing him to join the Phoenix Suns, where he immediately became a league superstar as a 27 year-old rookie! While other parks in NYC have been renamed, the proposal for St. Andrew’s Playground has highlighted tensions between honoring, the borough's greatest basketball legend, and opposing community perspectives with no love or interest in Brooklyn's basketball legacy! The great Connie Hawkins passed away on October 6, 2017, at the age of 75 in Phoenix, Arizona. May he Rest In Peace! The NYC Basketball History Project officially supports the re-naming of St. Andrew's Playground - to Connie Hawkins Playground and have submitted a Letter of Recomendation to the City Council to agree with this action!

That’s a wrap on my 5th season on #NYR beat. I’m off this weekend, but have more in the coming weeks. This was the toughest season of my career for obvious reasons. It was a hard adjustment. Thanks to everyone — fans, fellow media and teams — who lended support this season. 🫶🏼

Tim Walz might have just landed himself in prison. He just got exposed for RESTARTING taxpayer payments to Somali fraudsters tied to ‘Feeding Our Future’ This is so damning… Jim Jordan: “Why didn’t you tell the truth about why you restarted the payments?” WALZ: “The agency believed the court required them to make those payments.” JORDAN: “That was false. The court says the judge never ordered you to resume Feeding Our Future payments. So the court’s lying?!” WALZ: “I can’t tell you!” JORDAN: “Somebody’s lying! Either you’re lying or the court’s lying. Which one?” WALZ: “I just know what the attorneys said.” JORDAN: “Are you hiding behind the court? Is this about politics?!” Insane @Jim_Jordan

If terrible baseball didn’t drive us away — like trading Seaver-the Franchise- and then leaving him on the waiver wire 10 years later — or the Wilpons - then political optics wont. With a constant supply of divisive politics - baseball is an oasis. Politics are temporary - baseball is forever ✨

You can turn on your President. You can turn on your city. You can turn on your country. You can turn on religion. You can turn on your family. But you can NEVER turn on your sports teams! Now do you realize how STUPID so many of you sound? The Mets STOPPED being fun for me and it had little to do with the final score. I think I’ve made my case. LIFE isn’t one big “Field of Dreams” movie idiots. Not anymore!
