Using an MVPF framework, the policy generated about €1.6 of social value per euro of net fiscal cost, mainly via large consumer-surplus gains, but implied very high CO2 abatement costs of roughly €6140 per ton.
Iran was elected today as Vice-Chair of the UN Charter Committee, the body that is meant to uphold the principles of the UN Charter. A regime that systematically violates the most basic principles of the UN cannot sit in a position that is focused on preserving those very principles. This is a moral absurdity, and the UN must stop legitimizing those who act against the goals of this institution.
