@DrDanLevy @TomPelissero Monken is the OC who often forgot that Derrick Henry was on his team. In the 2024 playoff loss to KC, he called 6 running plays for the running backs. (They had the number one rushing attack that year.) In the 2023 playoff loss to Cincy, he called 19 total run plays. Bad hire.

After the Browns informed DC Jim Schwartz this morning they were passing him over to hire Todd Monken as head coach, Schwartz was visibly upset, said goodbyes in the building and told other coaches he’s not coming back, sources tell The Insiders. Schwartz is under contract and Cleveland wants to retain him. But his future is now unclear.

This from the Bleacher Report on his hiring: “The Ravens excelled with Monken, never ranking below No. 11 in scoring offense during his three seasons with the team. Baltimore also led the NFL with an average of 424.9 total yards per game in 2024. Lamar Jackson thrived alongside Monken as well, earning MVP honors for his 2023 campaign. Jackson compiled a passer rating over 100 in all three seasons with Monken after doing so in just one of the five years prior to his arrival.”

The ball came loose prior to the receiver completing the third element.
