@Lorelei1861 Not sure how much of the Puritan writers you've actually read but they absolutely acknowledged the evil that was in their own hearts and their constant need for repentance.

“The Southern tradition is squarely at odds with the Puritan or Northern tradition. The Puritan puts evil in the object---whiskey, a gun, a bad environment, etc.---rather than in the human heart. Once evil is projected into the object, the Puritan is able to justify to himself his right to attack and reform others in the name of his own sanctity. This reduces to a disguised form of a will to power. What the Puritan wants is not salvation but power. He is, in the final analysis, a minion of the Devil.”
Chase Steely@Chase_Steely

From Southern Partisan 02.3, 1982: The cream of Southern writers and thinkers gathered this spring at Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, for a literary reunion. Present were Andrew Lytle, Cleanth Brooks, George Garrett, Peter Taylor, and Eudora Welty, who regaled a large and enthusiastic audience of students and townspeople with readings from their works and informal discussions of Southern literature. The highlight of the two-day gathering was a roundtable discussion between all of the principals except Miss Welty, on the South. Peter Taylor, one of America's greatest short-story writers recalled how William Faulkner's Absalom Absalom, considered by many today as the American novel, was first received by New York critics: it was officially opined that the book had been written by a crazy man. Taylor went on to describe what he feels Southern literature is all about: it is a struggle to humanize modern life by understanding it and reconciling it with the Christian tradition of the West. No small task, but one which Southern writers have mastered. Cleanth Brooks, one of America's greatest literary scholars, commented on today's culture. The students of today are, he fears, outside Western civilization. They are equally cut off from both the old traditional oral culture of the West and from the written high culture. According to Brooks, the three bastard America muses hold sway in literature. These are Sentimentality, Propaganda, and Pornography, the latter a billion dollar industry predicated upon the unwillingness or inability of Americans "to see reality as a whole." And only the writers of the South still have the cultural base to see the present situation for what it is, rather than to be a part of it. The key to Southern literature, Andrew Lytle (perhaps the greatest living practitioner of Southern literature) told the assembled audience, is that it is still Christian and still has a Christian grasp of the reality of evil. The Southern tradition is squarely at odds with the Puritan or Northern tradition. He is, in the final analysis, a minion of the Devil. George Garrett, poet and novelist, described with some relish the economic and cultural decay of the once powerful Northeast and declared his belief that, judging from the youngest writers just coming on the scene, Southern literature is still great and still Southern and will continue to be for a long time.

@SCHouseGOP I asked ChatGPT to make a true map representative of equal population, without political party affiliation and without racial politics. This true map would hypothetically give 5 seats to Republicans and 2 seats to Democrats. This, my friends, is #truedemocracy.

What are you doing for tick and Lyme mitigation/prevention? In our house, high doses of B1 and MSM to reduce your desirability to ticks, plus cats claw for Lyme. Elevated sulfur levels in your blood reduce or eliminate desirability for flies, mosquitoes, and ticks. Vitamin B1 is a sulfur bearing compound.

Someone dumped off this kooky leghorn hen at the farm. I find an egg 🥚 in the hay roll after I pull off the tarp cover almost every day. I came early and she seems impatient that she can’t get her business done.😂

Lots of questions, comments, and concerns about our tick eating machines we posted yesterday the Guinea Fowl. - First & foremost they're retarded -Loud AF Ours are actually pretty quiet, but they are great living alarm systems -Eat 300-1000 bugs a day Haven't had a tick or chigger issue since we've brought them onto the property -Can clear an 8' fence -Have been told they're aggressive towards roosters, but that hasn't been our experience -Apparently they're delicious -Wouldn't eat the eggs The noise & stupidity are big downsides for a lot of folks, but after experiencing our first summer out here with constant chigger & tick bites they're a huge net positive in our opinion to have on the farm.

Tennessee just dropped a bombshell — and it feels damn good. Lawmakers said enough is enough. HB 1802/SB 1407 makes it crystal clear: you have the God-given right to protect your home, your truck, your livestock, and your family, without hesitation or apology. No more standing there helpless while some criminal steals what you worked for, burns your barn, or breaks into your house. This is castle doctrine on steroids. Property rights are human rights. Good men and women no longer have to cower while evil runs wild. Finally, a state that remembers: the right to defend what’s yours isn’t up for negotiation. Governor, sign this masterpiece. America needs more leaders with this kind of backbone. Other red states… take notes. The rest of us are watching. Train like your life and your family’s future depend on it, because they do. Stay dangerous, stay good.

🚨 TENNESSEE JUST DROPPED A BOMBSHELL ON CRIME — AND IT’S GLORIOUS! 🔥 Lawmakers just passed HB 1802/SB 1407: Deadly force is now 100% legal to protect your PROPERTY from thieves, burglars, arsonists, trespassers, and anyone messing with your livestock. No more standing there helpless while some punk steals your truck, burns your barn, or breaks into your home. This is castle doctrine on steroids, pure common sense that says your God-given right to defend what’s yours doesn’t stop at the front door. Criminals don’t get a free pass anymore. Property rights ARE human rights. In a world where some cities are decriminalizing theft and letting repeat offenders walk, Tennessee just said: NOT HERE. Governor — sign this masterpiece immediately. July 1 can’t come soon enough. America needs more leaders with this kind of backbone. Who’s ready for every red state to copy this? Drop a 🔥 if you stand with Tennessee! #TennesseeStrong #StandYourGround #2A #PropertyRights #NoMoreFreePasses #BackTheBlueAndYourself

And so it begins - the American grown, Herbal tea line from Cottage Pastures is expected to be available beginning Autumn 2026. In about one month I will show you pictures of an entire field covered in white chamomile, orange calendula, peppermint and spearmint contained in a designated area next to lemon balm. Rosemary plants - dehydrated and likely presenting the freshest and most potent flavor and smell many people will have ever experienced. The added beehives will be buzzing through the fields, the garlic harvest will occur through all of this - the pathway forward to include a year round herbal tea and dried herb offer has begun and it will be grown, this year, right here.

I am preparing to preach through the book of Romans. I like to listen to sermons of whatever I am preaching as kind of audio commentary. I am planning to listening to MacArthur and Lloyd Jones. I would like to find at least one more detailed exposition through Romans to listen to as I preach through the book. My criteria: 1. Must be a detailed exposition, at least 100 sermons in the series. 2. Must be expository preaching, which means the preacher needs to be able to identify the main point of passage and must submit his outline to the inspired structure and emphasis of the text. 3. It must be doctrinal expanding and developing doctrines in the text and stating the application. 4. It must demonstrate a literal, grammatical, historical, contextual hermetic or approach to studying the Bible. Speak to me! I already have many good commentaries.

@SaysSimulation Since we are apparently the only country able to open Hormuz militarily, why not negotiate free passage for all US flagged ships (we have very few) and the rest of the world can pay tolls.

Forget the blame games, people are try to put the US in an impossible situation - and we need to refuse that. Let's game it out. 1. Iran says it will be controlling the Strait & charging tolls from here forward, non-negotiable. That is the new default unless something changes 1/
Labrador Skeptic@SaysSimulation

Worth watching the video. Perhaps coming to much of the world in the next 30-60 days Some would blame this on the US. It might enrage those people, but I would argue just the reverse. Iran has been militarily capable of shutting the Strait or imposing tolls for the last 50 yrs 1

Lynn White had $0 for a lawyer and $73,000 in debt hanging over her head. She was facing eviction in Long Beach, California. Lost her first trial. The clock was running out. So she opened ChatGPT. She told it to pretend it was a Harvard Law professor. Then she told it to rip her arguments apart. Harshly. No mercy. Find every hole before opposing counsel does. It did exactly that. She rebuilt her case argument by argument, using AI feedback as her sparring partner every single night. She researched with Perplexity. She cross-checked everything. She filed her own appeal with zero legal training and zero dollars spent on representation. Then she walked into court and won. The eviction was overturned. $55,000 in penalties gone. $18,000 in overdue rent, resolved. The lawyers on the other side were so stunned they emailed her afterward. Told her if law was something she was interested in as a profession, she could certainly do the job. She was a tenant who lost her first trial. Her exact words after the verdict: "It felt like David and Goliath, except my slingshot was AI." This is the story that makes every $500/hour attorney uncomfortable. Not because AI passed the bar. But because a woman with no money, no legal background, and no second chances used free tools to beat a legal team that had all three. The legal industry has spent years arguing AI can't replace lawyers. Lynn White wasn't trying to replace anyone. She was just trying to keep her home.

@FAFOFarmsTX You should consider purchasing a Freeze Dryer. Freeze Dried eggs have at least a 5 year shelf-life under proper storage conditions. I agree with the other commentator, water glassing, while cheap, won't get you much beyond one year and you will lose some product.

2026 is our year of food security around the farm. Trying to put away 2 years worth of eggs, build a food forest, start to can shelf stable salsas, jams, and other stuff. With everything going on in the world if we have the ability to try to do this even though we have zero free time it's a good bet. Worst comes to worst we'll have a bunch of extra food. "And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food." Genesis 1:29
