@WorkElizab Our loss of basic science is our country's downfall. If you can't figure this out then you deserve a low paying job. Or maybe a higher bar for education in our country. We are not expecting our youth to excell.

@WorkElizab I know they are expecting $10.40. There are a lot of other variables like service, quality of food, etc. Then there is another consideration. I pay tax on my 20% tip but they pay no tax on the tip I just gave them. I normally tip generously but rethinking this.

@LarryJones as a server I dont go to these places and I dont think people should feel like they should tip more ...service fees should be disallowed

@SenatorHick If a couple guys from the Mardi Gras state can go after women meds then some states should bar Viagra from being mailed as well. Those blue pills have lots of issues.

It is still optional. But, I tip because I know in my state they’re not paid well. If I were in CA where they make over $18/hr., I would tip the minimum. As a nurse, in the 70’s, I started at $5/hr. It took me years to make $18.00/hr. I was saving lives. It wasn’t till COVID that nurses really began making good money. But, I never had trouble getting a job, either.

Kaleb and I went out for dinner last night and I left a $20 tip on a $125 bill. The waiter didn't take it well and told us we shouldn't be going out to eat if we can't afford to tip at least 50. Now we're wondering if $20 isn't really enough.

@darksabath3846 you are not living in reality 2 tables most of the times means 20 bucks or less ....not everyone works in fine upscale dining ..if I made the kind of money you think we all make I would own my own home and be retired by now

@hopslugger 2 tables in a single hour with a $30-$50 tip is $60-$100 an hour. There are not many jobs that pay that much. I am talking economic reality here. Not what you think you deserve.

@darksabath3846 if that happens there wont be any restaurants all would have to eat at home and it does take skills you trying doing what we do most can't and high schoolers can't necessarily do the job its harder than you think by the way you talk you have never done this job

@Hania16836 Waiting is unskilled labor that a high schooler can do. They do not deserve to be making $60-$100 an hour assuming the waiter has 2 tables when the customer is making $30 an hour. Tell the waiter to get a job in welding, HVAC, or as an electrician if they want to make more money.

$20 was fine. 10% would have been 12.50, and you tipped over that. If the waiter had said that to me, I would not have tipped at all. Entitlement is not acceptable regardless of how good the service was. A tip is a reward for good food and good service. A tip is not required, and it certainly is not something with a minimum price tag.

@mitymouse68 I would say not optional no one can survive on 200 to 400 a week before taxes when rents are way over 2000 for just the base rent ...unless they have server apts that are like 500 a month

@Hania16836 Tips are optional. But at least 20% is standard, $25 would be that. So he was asking for a 40% tip. No way. What a smug person. No waiter is worth that.

@Hania16836 I assume you were there about an hour. So, that $20/hr extra. That's $40,000 a year extra for a full time job. Complain to the manager. That person should be fired.
