@theWellRedMage It's mechanically simple (for better or worse,) which makes it an easy entry point. Little grinding required, no choices to make about characters, classes, etc.

@JadeAtrophis I'm told it was a pivotal moment when the soviets accused the US of feeding dog food to our elderly and poor, because the people responded, "They have specific food just for dogs?"

Academic science stands on a threshold of legitimacy. Will we accept changes to the model to ensure legitimate work gets published? Or will we find ourselves buried under an avalanche of slop, paralyzed and indecisive but just hoping to muddle through?

@TheMuppetPastor "For all his flaws" I know his music was good but that's underselling some profound evil on his part.

Something that’s hard to explain to a younger audience: Michael Jackson made his music for EVERYONE around the world and hoped to bring people together. There wasn’t this idea of making music for one gender or race. His themes were never meant to be exclusive. Today we have artists who go out their way to disparage others with “hot takes” or to virtue signal. Michael knew better. He wanted a better world and showed unity in music was one way of getting there. For all his flaws, I think he shone brightly in this area. People are responding well because 1. His albums are timeless classics and 2. We inwardly crave a simpler time when everyone was allowed to love the king of Pop.

@alexthechick Given the role of remittances in the scams, I would bet there's some level of organization happening.

@Protestia It's kind of a weird article. Defends the statue as a thing while calling out the theology that produced it. Probably trying just too hard for nuance.

Follow this for a second- which is the sort of thing Protestia documents. 🧵🧵🧵 In 2019 Tish Harrison Warren, an Anglican priestess with the ACNA, wrote an article for Christianity Today detailing the actions of transgressive Lutheran impastor Nadia Bolz Webber, who melted down ‘purity rings’ into the shape of a woman’s ladyparts and gifted it to pro-abortion feminist, Gloria Steinem.

interesting thing about disney in the aughts is that they came to hate themselves and so by extension their audience and apparently made a series of movies highlighting this contempt

Honestly barely remember what my wife’s wedding dress looked like. If we didn’t have pictures I’d have no idea. All I remember is seeing the most beautifully radiant woman on earth walking down the aisle and becoming my bride

Insightful passage in The Great Divorce. It describes a "Theological Society" in hell. The group is marked by "a certain lack of grip" and "regrettable jealousies." The visitor plans to read a paper lamenting that Jesus died too young, before he reached his full stature.
