@P_Townnn @pladinosaur @will_nba_hater McCann was almost a full win better than Semien (0.4 to -0.4 fWAR). Taking into account how good the guy's teammates were when measuring individual performance doesn't seem really useful to me

Been thinking about the worst 2020s Mets and I think it’s gonna come down to the wire between Marcus Semien and James McCann.

@pladinosaur Omar Narváez was the worst by fWAR so far, but Semien is going to easily pass him (unless he gets cut or retires before reaching -1.1 fWAR) James McCann had +0.4 fWAR for the Mets. He was a disappointment for the money they gave him, but not even close to the worst 2020s Met

@MeekPhill_ When talking about who the worst individual player was, why are you invoking how good their teammates are, which has absolutely nothing to do with it?

@blubbadafish @craigsclarke @KentMurphy @CloseCallSports Baseball does have some unneeded rules, but this isn't one of them. This isn't a case of the rule being had, but more a case of the umpires aggressively applying the rule when it could have been waived when taking the situation into account.

@craigsclarke @KentMurphy @CloseCallSports It was correct by the letter of the law, but MLB later issued a statement saying that the umpires have the authority to waive this call in a situation where the fielder makes the play easily even after the interference occurs. 👇

@Ozymetsdias @Frankviz The Mets should not be trying to improve the team. The team has been so destroyed from top to bottom by Steve Cohen that they need to strip it down to the basement and do a 100-loss rebuild like the Cubs and Astros. I'd miss Lindor but he'll be old by the time we're good anyway

You will feel bad when you learn that Lindor has been dealing with the after effects of a concussion since the first week of the season

@Ozymetsdias I would feel bad for Lindor and equally bad for anybody else playing in a Mets organization that can't identify concussion symptoms and sit them down.

@TheMetsX He is not even the worst player on his team. Vientos has him in negative fWAR by a pretty big margin

@BMiggy By the way, Brandon Nimmo, who you insisted the Mets absolutely had to trade for a sub-replacement near-retiree, because Nimmo was supposedly on his last legs, flirting with the glue factory, and couldn't play the outfield anymore, has 10 more OAA than Soto in 2025-2026

He’s slightly above league average in LF this season So “playing the field like a DH” is the purest bullshit rational possible to justify not having Soto as a top 25 player.
SleeperMets@SleeperMets

Here is what @CBSSports had to say about Juan Soto: “How do you crack the top 50 after missing almost three weeks with a calf strain and playing the field like a DH? You hit like Juan Soto does, that's how. True to form, Soto right now has an OPS of .967, 21 homers, and more walks than strikeouts.”

@PSLToFlushing They might want to try to be good in 2027, but they shouldn't. Building on top of a roster with like 7 good players, with all-time historic shit analytics, and 500 million to light on fire, they're just gonna do another round of Mercenary FA Roulette and make things worse

Another day, another brutal error from Francisco Lindor. That’s now three consecutive games where Lindor has made an error.

@SleeperMets I was told we were prioritizing “defense” and “run prevention”… that’s why we HAD to get rid of Alonso and replace him with a full time second basemen and we HAD to sign a 42 million per year 3B who never played there a day in his life! We care for defense until it’s Lindor/Soto

@pladinosaur @Mike_Peters_LGM incorrect. The Mets under the previous owners planned to retire Koosman, and set a date for 2020, but postponed it so it wouldn't happen in an empty stadium. Turn the team was sold. Jeff Wilpon said there was a plan in motion to retire more numbers. Cohen is just continuing it

@Mike_Peters_LGM Feel like part of it is that the Mets have had so many “celebrations” the past few years between number retirements and team HOF stuff because the Wilpons refused to do any of that

I remember when Mike Piazza was inducted into the Hall of Fame with a Mets cap on the plaque. It was a huge deal. It was a major event that Mets fans made plans to travel for. Seems like nobody cares for Beltran's induction next weekend, despite him also having a Mets cap.

@JTsMomma2Juan0 @Jolly_Olive I am a massive Lindor fan, and radical leftist commie, and I want the Mets to trade Lindor, simply because the team sucks so bad at everything that they won't reverse it until Lindor is declining already. Get him outta here, get a big haul, and get Francisco a ring. Win win win

@FortuneMets @Jolly_Olive Let me stop you right there. The Mets should not be "trying to contend" in 2027. Steve Cohen has destroyed the Mets organization. The analytics suck, the farm dropped like 15 spots from the loss of just 5 guys. It needs to be burnt down and completely rebuilt. 100-loss type shit

@Jolly_Olive - mid - ass - more pop star than baseball player atp - literally gone -ass Like what are we doing here. We are trying to contend and if Stearns does his job and gets us better starting pitching and WE FUCKING STAY HEALTHY. We have a good team next year. We totally can compete.
