‘It was just a tree!’, various online cretins are already proclaiming. This short but moving video is a reminder of what a humble tree can mean to someone. youtu.be/_BYQLDU9xhI?si… via @YouTube

Early outing along the river this morning chasing mist was not so fruitful, photograph-wise. However, I did watch a fox catch its breakfast mouse, spotted an otter, and watched the sun rise. Photography pays off even when you don’t get a photo.

Hi @waitrose . Sorry if my tweet below was a bit opaque. The image shows "British Jazz Apples" (with Union Flag to emphasise Britishness). Bottom right corner: "Origin: Chile" Can you explain this?!
Robert Brignall 🎵@rbrignall

@waitrose and the origin of these "British Jazz Apples" is...?

@rbrignall Hi Robert, apologies for any confusion. This product is typically sourced from the UK, however if a particular variety of product falls out of season, they'll be supplied from another country until they can be harvested in the UK again. ^Saff

The whole ‘This is what they’re bred for!’ argument doesn’t hold either. Dozens of dog breeds have routes in being used for protection. The question is what should we be actively breeding (pugs anyone??), and how do we make policies to ensure we train and handle dogs properly.

Simply ‘banning’ any particular breed is not going to stop thugs from using dogs as a means to look tough: they will just use another breed. The problem lies upstream: we need to stop people misusing and mistreating.
Good Morning Britain@GMB

'This dog is not a nice dog.' 'This dog is not bred or made to be an ultra-aggressive dog.' Three people including an 11-year-old girl have been hurt in a dog attack in Birmingham. So has the time come to ban XL Bully dogs?

@JohnCleese This isn’t a ‘revelation’ to anyone with a basic understanding of tax. Tax is charged on income, not net wealth. And because we have a progressive tax system Sunak will be paying a higher rate of income tax than the ‘average’ person.

@lensdistrict Of course this person may have been talking about photoshop etc, but the inevitable day is coming when a great photo will be dismissed as ‘probably just AI’

@lensdistrict Maybe this is where the harm in AI really lies: in robbing real photographs of the credibility they deserve. When stunning light+conditions just becomes associated with fakery, there’s less motivation to go and chase it.

Lady discusses with partner at the window in horrific made in Chelsea accent; “Ooh nice piccies these aren’t they, are they enhanced?” Partner: “Digital so it’s all false really, I watched a programme once explaining all this”. Tourist season is underway folks.

If dogs evolved ‘puppy eyes’ as a means to gain favour with humans then someone needs to explain seals

@ianmiles What an utterly stupid and selfish take. For people living under constant threat of shelling and invasion, life goes on. They will enjoy themselves once in a while and thank god they do. Perhaps you’d feel better watching scenes from Mariupol or Bakhmut.

@john_ritzema The problem is the words ‘undermine’ and ‘disrupt’ suggest that any form of dissent, like holding up a banner, could be treated as an offence. Is it reasonable to suspend basic civil freedoms as long as there is some sort of state occasion going on?

Yep. Amazing how many people don’t see a problem with criminalising the expression of opinions - as long as those opinions are ones they don’t share. It all smells a bit totalitarian-regime-y
Jay Rayner@jayrayner1

Do we now have a law banning the undermining of celebrations? Is their now a custodial sentence for making a scene? I wasn't planning to go and shout abuse at the procession, but threatened over-reach like this really does bring the expletives to the tip of my tongue.

@hwilliamssomers @Psythor ‘Wouldn’t kill us’ isn’t much merit. Christians are already free not to shop, the question is why everyone else should be forced not to.

@hughmitchell1 @Psythor Maybe. I think a few national holidays on which everything is shut and people can do as they wish wouldn’t kill us.
