🎉GREAT NEWS 🎉 @NIH announced today that it is investing $150 million in human-based research to reduce the use of animals in research. These brand new awards will be made under the Complement Animal Research in Experimentation program, which is intended to develop, implement, and standardize alternatives to animal testing. We have consistently advocated for this NIH program, including securing congressional support through the federal appropriations process, and are excited to see NIH following through 👏

Because of years of hunting with lead ammunition, this dangerous substance is all over our environment and wildlife frequently ingests it leading to millions of animals suffering from lead poisoning. In fact, lead poisoning is the leading cause of death for California condors, threatening them with near extinction. Now, Congress is trying to make it harder to prevent lead exposure by passing the misleadingly named Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act (H.R. 556).
