Not how this works. The Constitution is clear: the states control elections. They're going to do everything they can to mess with the election because they've got nothing but a shitty record to run on.

Donald Trump’s speech was nothing but another desperate attempt to subvert our democracy. He sees the midterm losses coming and wants to destroy trust in our elections to cling to power. We will not let him. We will fight. He will lose. The people will win.

PBS fact-checked Trump’s speech: 1. CLAIM: China accessed voter files. *The files were public voter rolls from 6 states in 2022, not the 2020 election. No evidence votes were changed. 2. CLAIM: Voting machines are vulnerable. *No evidence any machines were hacked in 2020. Paper ballots and audit trails protected election results. 3. CLAIM: 278,000 non-citizens were registered. *Registration isn’t proof of voting, and the WH provided no evidence for the claim.

Trump declassified documents he said would prove China rigged the 2020 election. Reporters opened them and found they did not. At this point he has roughly the same credibility on election fraud as the MyPillow guy. The documents say China did not interfere with vote tabulation. They say China did not interfere with the transmission of election results. One intelligence assessment concludes China did not intend to covertly interfere in the election. He stood at the podium, described those documents as proof, and never explained how they proved his claim. He claimed China stole 220 million voter files. He did not explain how. He did not identify a single altered ballot or changed election result. Public voter registration data is also widely available through commercial data brokers, an important piece of context he left out. These allegations have been examined for six years by the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, the courts, and Republican election officials across the country. None found evidence that foreign actors altered the vote count or the reported results of the 2020 election. And if China had actually succeeded in changing the outcome of the election while he was president, the administration responsible for preventing it was his.
