Apple just fired a warning shot at SideStore! iOS 26.4 beta 1 quietly broke the core trick that lets SideStore & StikDebug refresh apps on-device. For years, the “VPN-to-yourself” loophole worked. Now Apple patched it. Here’s what happened: • SideStore used a local VPN (LocalDevVPN) • It “mirrored” packets to trick lockdown • Device talks to itself like it’s another computer • Apps refresh without a PC, unlike Altstore. Apple added a new netmask check. If the VPN IP doesn’t look like it belongs on your WiFi network → connection rejected. Translation: They’re done ignoring this. But here’s the twist… The dev already bypassed it. Instead of killing VPN access completely, Apple added a half-step filter. So the fix? Make the VPN IP match the WiFi subnet. Prioritize the route. Business resumes. Cat. Mouse. Repeat. This isn’t just a bug fix. It’s proof Apple is actively targeting SideStore & StikDebug now. And if they fully block VPN lockdown access next? There’s apparently another plan waiting. The sideloading war just leveled up.
