AI agents are spending money on your behalf. The rails they're spending through were built for humans clicking buttons. Well, were* Thursday 7/16 in SF, I'm joining @KindredVentures' agentic commerce (un)conference to dig into this with people from Visa, Adyen, Basis Theory, and a room of builders. Just finished listening to Adam Mosseri on Lenny. A lot of useful nuggets. I'm glad he agrees that token leaderboards are a terrible idea. When it comes to tokens and spending, my thoughts: A lot of people's instinct in this industry is for managers to count every token. Reactively. As if there wasn't a better way for people to be spending their time. What builders need is a way to give agents a budget, set the rules once in the infrastructure, and get the breathing room to build.

Adam Mosseri (@mosseri) leads @Instagram, used by over 3 billion people (1 in 3 humans). He started at Facebook in 2008 as an IC designer, rose to lead News Feed, and took over Instagram from @kevin and @mikeyk in 2018. Since then, Instagram has more than tripled its user base, and Adam is now months away from having run it longer than its founders did. In our in-depth conversation, we discuss: 🔸 The rise of the “product staff” role 🔸 Why Adam is bullish on designers 🔸 What the Instagram algorithm knows about you 🔸 What the rise of AI-generated content means for IG 🔸 The two biggest product failures of Adam’s career—Facebook Home and the first version of Reels Listen now 👇 youtu.be/yQ_EWmtfWvQ

The @sapiom team is hosting a small builder night in SF tonight. We're keeping it intentionally tight. If you're building something real with agents, DM me what you're working on. I'll send details to a handful of folks it makes sense for.

I checked our stats last night. In the last 30 days: 55M+ transactions across 455 orgs, 106K+ agents running live, 99.5% success rate.

Over the last year, we've built something that isn't another remake. Call it the spine for our version of flubber. The foundation that takes all that raw, unharnessed energy and gives it somewhere to go, so builders can point it at a real problem instead of six months keeping it off the walls.

Remember the 90's movie Flubber with Robin Williams? My team and I couldn't agree on whether it was called Flubber or Blubber so we looked it up. Turns out, it was a remake of a movie from the 60's.

I’m in a text group with 30 enterprise execs driving ai transformation at their companies. It is the #1 community I’ve become a part of this year. Battle tested AI tools, challenges, and wins are shared constantly and we are starting to meet as a group monthly for live discussion. I want more of the energy and value this group provides, but I don’t want to dilute it, so I'm spinning up a few more of these this quarter. Each group is capped at 30 people and the rules are simple… No sales pitches. Just smart people sharing how they’re using AI personally and how they’re transforming their org with AI (successfully and unsuccessfully). If you want to join one of these groups, reply with "ai,” and if it’s a good fit I’ll DM you an invite.

Our founder, @i_zerbib, is originally from France, but has been busy building in sunny (or foggy, depending on the time of day) San Francisco. 🇫🇷🌁 Naturally, our team spans both, with folks in between the two cities. When a community like Intertech Talents has spent the last year building bridges between the two, it was an easy yes to sponsor. Nikita from our technical team helped bring our story to Paris last week, chatting with builders passionate about the future of autonomous agents. We couldn't be more excited about what's ahead.

Who actually knows what they're talking about when it comes to AI? Since starting @sapiom , I get some version of that question often. There are so many people with a take, it can be hard to know who's legit and who's just click-bait-y. I've listened to @startupideaspod a few times, and while It's not the most technical show out there, it's easy-listening, human, and great for anyone getting into building with AI. He genuinely does a great job and gives the actual playbooks away for free. An underrated resource. Here's to building in public.

A woodcut-news generator leans on search, image gen, and caching in ways a property manager never will, and a cron-driven brain workflow managing other workflows breaks completely different things. Running all of it in the same eight hours means we find our own walls before a customer does.
