Start at the very beginning… base set. Ignore all the noise and stay away from modern if you don’t want to get rekt. Collect while you learn. Lean into Gen 1 and focus on that, then broaden your horizons into Gen 2, then Gen 3. And remember, everything that isn’t Japanese is a reprint 😉

How are my crypto bros cashing out on their pokemon card? Seems the only way to get rid of them with good value is at card shows. Shops undercut you, Ebay wrecks you with fees and idk any other way. I got a BUNCH of my cards graded recently but dont know how to sell them.

@poorlydrNFT I was scooping up Mega Rayquazas a few years ago… then when the boom hit, I graded some of the raws I had and hit 10’s on most of them. I haven’t spent more than $300-400 on any of these 🤭

Humble beginnings. This photo was taken on September 24, 2023 when I acquired my first gold star. This PSA 6 Flareon from Ex Power Keepers. Purchased it at a card show for $480 (CAD). Today's market price for this card is $1800+ Didn't have any expectations for the card to go up or down at the time, I was just buying and collecting what I liked. How did you get started with collecting?

@ZaidKirdsey @DGMD22 @Courtyard_io @Beezie Facts bro… Even if Pokémon released NFT’s, they would never touch the value/ market cap of the actual cards.

It’s an interesting time for sure because if done right like @Courtyard_io / @Beezie I can definitely see value in tokenizing cards in order to help prevent with fakes ect. If you think about it PSA, TAG ect are kinda the same thing but without the blockchain. This makes me believe that the “normal” collectors won’t ever really care for tokenized because it’s already being done without all the “extra” stuff. Also at the end of the day people can argue all they want about the pros of digital assets but there is nothing like having the physical displayed in your house! Would you rather have a digital (insert dream car ) or would you rather have the real thing in your garage… I think we know the answer to that.

One interesting question about the Pokémon and TCG craze is that it is inevitable that more cards will be tokenized and traded on platforms that increase liquidity, decrease fees and make it easier for the average holder at home to buy/sell/trade their cards. Is the net effect of this price go up or down? My sense is that it will lead to price go down for most cards that are not ultra-rare. The feeling of illiquidity for most average collectors creates decreased circulating supply and more parabolic price action.
