Every time a platform enshittifies, it doesn't destroy its community, but disperses it. The public goes nomadic, carrying its aesthetics, its language, its politics, while searching for new ground. We refer to this phenomenon as *Nomad Publics*. link to brief intro below

@post_polar_ "Every coupling of machines, every production of a machine, every sound of a machine running, becomes unbearable to the body without organs. Beneath its organs it senses there are larvae and loathsome worms, and a God at work messing it all up or strangling it by organizing it."

i am reading Anti-Oedipus for the first time in what must be 20 years. my impression is it's actually quite a fun book and "readable" if you are theory-minded. somehow untangles itself from the era to feel a futuristic book you'd find in some Gibson cyberpunk back-alley bookstore circa 2072

It does not matter if your ideas are groundbreaking, if your theory is sharp, if your concepts are novel and fresh. It matters even less who your ideas are derivative of. It only matters what you do with them: it is not enough to think, praxis and change is what counts.

@owocki 7. Once a part of the system meets your needs, have an agent write a generalized spec that can be shared with others. No need for code sharing, just a spec that can be interpreted by others and their agents who have context on their needs.

i built an "external brain" for myself. it ingests meeting transcripts, drive docs, github repos & other context nightly. agents compile a strategic state layer nightly: 0. current focus 1. goals 2. posture relative to goals 3. relationships things i'm experimenting with: 0. email me nightly 1. decision logs 2. pre-meeting briefer (reads last 3 transcripts + open threads per person + gives context) 3. adversarial review agent (what did i do this week that didn't ladder to my goals?) 4. relationship advisor (how can i coach my team/relationships to maximally effectiveness? ) 5. pattern miner (themes & objections that recurred across conversations) 6. writing/research pipeline idea generator 7. what else should i be playing with?

@owocki @UnforcedAG localism also applies beyond geographic locality to contextual locality — shared meaning/aesthetics/phenomenology despite distance. In both, localism is where technology finds its synchronicity.

Open Machine
Open Machine@theopenmachine·
"The machine with superior technicality is an open machine, and the ensemble of open machines assumes man as permanent organizer and as a living interpreter of the interrelationships of machines. Far from being the supervisor of a squad of slaves, man is the permanent organizer of a society of technical objects which need him as much as musicians in an orchestra need a conductor." – Simondon

I’m fed up with the direction our country is going. So I'm running for Congress in Virginia's new 7th district to put working families first, hold the powerful accountable, and fight to build a future we can actually be proud of. Learn more on our site linked below:

Trust is the most overloaded term in crypto Everybody uses it to mean something different: we somehow simultaneously want to minimize trust and also create more of it Like any good pedant, that equivocation bothers the hell out of me. So I started digging into what trust actually is. And I stumbled onto something bigger than I expected. Our societal institutions all run on way more implicit trust than we realize, and those foundations have been slowly crumbling under the strain of the internet, global economies, and now AI. To face these challenges, we need to be able to engineer trust. And for that we need an actionable model of trust. That is the subject of my latest article
