Sacramento City Councilmember Mai Vang, who is running for Congress in California’s 7th District, spoke with Ryan Grim about how her family’s history as Hmong refugees shaped her politics. Vang said her parents fled Laos after the CIA recruited Hmong communities to fight during the Vietnam War, leaving many families displaced and targeted after the U.S. withdrawal. Vang connected that history of war, displacement, and poverty to her campaign platform, including opposition to U.S. weapons funding for Israel, support for BDS, for abolishing ICE, and a broader challenge to corporate-funded politics. @MaiForUs | @ryangrim

I am drafting a response to a journalist regarding Israel's abuse of the flotilla activists Gmail's AI is telling me that using the words "Israel's genocide in Gaza" could be "improved" by replacing "genocide" with "actions." Sorry tech overlords. You'll have to try harder

The List underscores how the current trajectory of AI is not inevitable. Resistance is blossoming everywhere, and anyone can shape the future of AI development. Amid an onslaught of negative news, this project centers hope.

Ben Gvir has been incessantly posting videos of himself giddily abusing Palestinian detainees for months, but only now that he’s doing it to foreign activists is it an issue for these people. Meanwhile, torturing and raping Palestinian prisoners is par for the course.
Zvika Klein צביקה קליין@ZvikaKlein

As an Israeli, I am utterly ashamed and disgusted by Itamar Ben-Gvir’s pathetic, childish stunt. The humiliating way he filmed and mocked detainees is a national disgrace. This is not Israel. It’s damaging our soldiers and our country. Not in our name. #Israel

😭 By Allah, I am crying out of sadness because donations have stopped #Yemen is being forgotten and ignored by the world, while people face poverty, starvation, and genocide. 🇾🇪😢 Eid may pass upon children with no food and no Udhiya (sacrificial) meat 😔 Only $1353 has been collected out of $3000, and many families are still waiting for hope. 🤲🏻 🙏 Your donation—even the simple (small) one—might make an Eid joy for a poor family. gofund.me/af95b1adb

Don't let them fool you! Ben Gvis is NOT an outlier Here's Miri Regev, one of Netnayahu's closest Ministers, parading tortured activists like some captured animals Her clip didn't get much attention, so no one in Israel is condemning her Their only problem with Ben Gvir is his video went viral & was bad PR for Israel's "we're the world's biggest victims" narrative! They don't give a darn about him torturing, beating, humiliating, caging women & civilians, as long as the world doesn't see it!

Three days ago, Mohamed & Firas Barji survived the Israeli airstrike that destroyed their home in Deir Qanoun al-Nahr. Young Firas asked a nurse to call his father because he wanted to check if he was alright. He did not yet know that his father, Abdul al-Barji, & his mother, Nada Qasir, had both been instantly killed in the strike that hit their home on May 17. The truth was held back for a short while as the boys recovered from their injuries. Today, Firas & his brother Mohamed were finally told the truth. Imagine surviving the airstrike, lying wounded & bandaged in a hospital bed, only to learn that your mother & father are never coming back. This is what Israel’s so called “precision strikes” leave behind. Not military victories. Orphaned children trying to understand why their parents vanished overnight. The footage from the hospital is heartbreaking. Children barely old enough to grasp death being forced to confront it all at once. At the end, this is what remains after the airstrikes end. Not “precision.” Not “self defence.” Just shattered families, orphaned children, & trauma that will outlive the rubble itself. 🥀 Footage @ yasourpage Tyre.

Nermeen from Gaza 𓂆🇵🇸🍉
Have you ever watched your life fall apart — piece by piece — and been completely powerless to stop it? My name is Nermeen, a displaced girl from Gaza, and I never imagined I’d be sharing my family’s story like this. But when your world is reduced to a tent and survival becomes your only goal, you start hoping that maybe, someone out there will listen. We’ve been living through a brutal war for nearly two years now. My family has been displaced more than 13 times. We’ve lost our home, our safety, and any sense of normal life. Today, we live in a tent — a thin sheet between us and the sky, with no electricity, no clean water, and barely any food. Everything is expensive beyond reason. A few vegetables or a sack of flour costs more than we can afford. Medicine? Out of reach. Clean water? Scarce. We’re not living — we’re just surviving. But we don’t want to just survive anymore. We want to live. To get out. To find safety. But leaving Gaza costs between 5,000 to7,000 per person — a number that feels impossible in our situation. This is why I’m asking for your help. Your donation can feed us, treat us, and maybe even save us. It’s not just money — it’s hope. It’s a lifeline. Please, help us take one step closer to safety. From the bottom of my heart — please don’t look away. chuffed.org/project/nermeen

DANISH POLICE BRUTALITY FOR ISRAEL A pro-Palestine protest outside Maersk headquarters in Copenhagen was dispersed by Danish police, who unleashed attack dogs and brutally beat peaceful demonstrators. Maersk, a Danish firm, has been accused of being complicit in the Isr*eli gen*cide of Palestinians in G*za through its transportation of weapons and supplies to Isr*el’s military. The demonstrators were not armed. They merely blocked the entrance to the building. However, the consequences they faced were severe, both physically and legally. Twenty activists from the Green Youth Movement were arrested and charged with trespassing, according to reports. Is it not interesting that when it comes to corporations, their profits and Isr*el, that police across Europe are willing to enforce this form of violence? Warning: The video contains violence.
