Recently shared a single image summary of the Database Tools service in OCI. Here is even more about creating DB connections in the OCI cloud using the DBTools service. A sales pitch for a free service? Nay! Another tool for your developer toolbox 👇 icodealot.com/database-tools…

@phartenfeller Woah cool. What are options in this space? I had no idea e-ink phones existed.

I am playing with the idea to downgrade my phone to an e-ink one. Should just work for texting, GPS, mobile payments, and a bit of web surfing. I fear dopamine addiction is doing quite some harm and I am definitely addicted to my phone.

AI is only as good as what it knows. For Oracle Database, that's been a problem. Built a library of 100+ practical guides to fix that — covering everything from PL/SQL to ORDS to migrations. Open source, MIT license. github.com/krisrice/oracl…

Getting older is realizing no couples actually cuddle while they sleep. They say goodnight, roll over, one snores all night while the other scrolls social media until their eyes burn.

Nobody has all the answers. That's OK. Keep pushing forward. Make the best choices for today that you can. Like logging in to OCI and learning about DBTools connections and private endpoints. 🤓 icodealot.com/database-tools…

Just rolled the credits on Strange Antiquities game. Compelling clue finding mechanics and decent gameplay loop overall. 👍👍

BIG BIG NEWS Y’ALL! After a great journey with the team at This Dot Labs, I’m officially moving on to my next adventure. This chapter has meant a lot to me, and I’m proud of what we accomplished as a team. I respect the goals and am grateful for the experiences and talented colleagues I’ve had. Really worked with some incredible Engineers and talent! I wish everyone at This Dot Labs continued success. So, you might be wondering what’s next for me! I can’t share all the details just yet, but I’m happy to say I have accepted a new role and will be starting in a couple of weeks! You could say that I GOT THE JOB! lol It’s a great organization, an awesome team, and an interesting challenge that I’ve been looking for, and I’m eager to begin! For those who follow me for tech, tutorials, mental models, career growth, and project builds, get ready. This move will create new opportunities to share the kind of value I can offer this community. I have plenty of new content coming soon, so stay tuned.

@RobotProxyWar For all its many parameters it still feels very one-dimensional. But, there is utility there.

I don’t think LLMs can ever achieve AGI. Massive datasets do not equate to experience.

Happy Wednesday! We shipped a new type of OCI resource principal called Database Tools Identity. It gives schemas a way to have distinct resource principals. You can read all about it here or check the documentation linked in the post. icodealot.com/give-oracle-da…

Came to share cloud learnings, stayed to volunteer. You are looking at the new Vice President of the Web Development and Cloud SIG of @FranklinU 's student ACM chapter. 🫡

Ok be very real, I am almost scared to ask this... If we do CYC26 who is coming? Don't y'all make me start going through this stress? Who is showing up IN PERSON? 🤔

I have not used Quarkus yet for anything in production but exploring it in development and I like what I am seeing so far. Developer productivity feels like it will be 🔥

@icodealot There's no need for branching when you can push directly to main. yolo.

For example... Wife: be right back. I need to go make sure I pushed my changes up to main. Moments later... She comes back in and pulls her latest code to her primary workstation. It's taken 20+ years of marriage, but we finally made it y'all! #happywifehappylife

My wife, traditionally non-technical, is using git to push changes and sync her code between workstations. She now casually drops these tidbits in conversations. 🥹

She's also very quickly catching on to a lot of design flaws in things she's reading about or learning online. Takes me down the rabbit hole with her and we just talk.

Thanks everyone who came to my talk at @CommitYourCode '25 or watched the stream. I appreciate you taking the time to be there and I hope you took something useful away from it. Thanks also for the feedback! Slides with examples and links are here: speakerdeck.com/icodealot/mana…
