Nolan put a weak lead in "Tenet" in 2020 because, at that time, casting a black actor was more important than casting a good one. I think he's making a similar political calculation with "The Odyssey." Trump and the GOP have so badly failed their base that the Left is all but guaranteed a return to power. And when they return, they will do so with merciless vengeance. Noaln is merely choosing to side with the likely victors. It's hideously mercenary, but not a surprise.

Christopher Nolan, responding in Time magazine this week to the avalanche of criticism over his Odyssey casting choices: "Hopefully they'll enjoy the film, even if they don't agree with everything. We had a lot of scientists complain about Interstellar. But you just don't want people to think that you took it on frivolously." He built a real seaworthy ship, shot entirely on 70mm IMAX, and spent $250 million. Is Nolan being dismissed too quickly, or did his casting choices earn the backlash?

They do everything in their power to cool down the popularity of LA Knight but it’s a testament to his talent that he is still one of the most popular guys in the company. He’s in the Bloodline vortex, then he’s in the Vision vortex and then he’s back in the Bloodline vortex again. The times where he is not, he is presented as the fake favourite to win the MITB briefcase or the King of the Ring to fool the audience into thinking they are doing something with him. Nothing ever happens and he’s back to where he was.
