Today marks the 80th anniversary of 'The Little Prince'. Originally published in English & French on April 6th 1943, the novella by Saint-Exupéry has since been translated into 535 languages and dialects, making it the second most translated work in the world! #langtwt #xl8

@idiomarium @PhilipJBoyes Writing Systems book and the research by John Baines, Stephen Houston et al. I've been working on the Aegean and Cyprus. There's @morantango on ogam and @Punsetcetera on khipus. I'll have a think who else I can think of.

So who do I know who is working on the loss of a writing system in the ancient / pre-modern world? I can think of a number of obvious candidates, but is this a specific research interest for any of you at the moment? Can you think of others working on such topics?

@SILintl Santali is an Austroasiatic language spoken in Nepal. It is related to Vietnamese and Khmer and has an own alphabet, each sign of which is derived from one of the Santali words. 🥰
