@jabeale That’s is where the lead vehicles. Including the motorcycle cop are supposed to exit the course. The runner should know the course as it was very obvious there. The organizers should have also had someone to make sure that didn’t happen though…

Not good. Lead runner followed the motorcycle cop down the wrong road and it cost him the marathon. While certainly not mandated, runners more often than not won't take the position after a wrong turn in front of them, particularly at the end. They'll hold their place unless they think they had a shot at overtaking before the mistake. If the guy in second (who ended up winning by a nose at the line) saw the wrong turn, he should've held his spot. If he didn't see it, not much he can do about it at this point. Maybe share the prize money.

@JonnyRoot_ Doesn't the motorcade exit just before the finish in every major race? Shouldn't he know that? And while that lady shouldn't have been there - she only impeded him when he tried to go around her to run off course. If he kept going correct, she wouldn't have been in his way.

This is why the finish at the LA marathon was so close👇🏼 Michael Kamau of Kenya was not only impeded by a female holding a Kenya flag, but the motorcade led him the wrong way, causing American Nathan Martin to eventually catch up & win by .01 seconds
