UPDATE: Ugandan authorities have arrested a suspected transnational criminal, a resident of Gasiza Parish, Nyakabande Sub-county in Kisoro District, along with two Nigerian nationals. The arrests followed an Interpol alert and public tip-offs about suspicious behaviour. Ministry of Internal Affairs spokesperson Simon Peter Mundeyi confirmed the intelligence-led operation, saying investigators are examining possible links to serious offences, including drug trafficking. A significant step forward in Uganda’s conservation efforts. Yesterday, the Uganda Wildlife Authority unveiled the Uganda Wildlife Forensics Laboratory at Uganda Wildlife Education Centre. Established through a partnership with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and support from TRACE Wildlife Forensics Network. The facility is set to enhance scientific investigations. Strengthening the detection, prosecution, and deterrence of wildlife crimes. A powerful addition to Uganda’s efforts in safeguarding its biodiversity and reinforcing conservation enforcement. #ConservingForGenerations

In 2025, Sudan’s total Gold exports fetched $1.5tn, with officially recorded exports 14.7 tonnes. By contrast, declared gold production stood at 70 tonnes, leaving a gap of 55.3 tonnes, undeclared. Uganda's gold exports in 2025 stood at $6.4bn, half of our total exports.
