A normal Ethereum conference in 2026: - you buy the ticket, a few hundred dollars. - you sign up for 4 post-conference aperitifs in a day, all running at the same time. You get accepted into 3, and decide to attend the 2 closest to each other. - you enter the main venue on the first day, then spend 90% of your time at side events far from the conference. - you go back for lunch, but food runs out 5 minutes after the break starts. If you're lucky, you spend 20 minutes in line and a few veggie burgers are left. - you read some talk titles: "how to onboard the next billion users", "the future of DeFi", "how L2s are scaling Ethereum". Maybe next time. - you want to find clients, you end up talking to infrastructure protocols, security firms, API service providers. ETHMilan in 2026: - 1000+ tickets released in multiple discount phases. You could pay less than $50 if you were early, or $100 buying on the last day. - the venue is a monastery turned into a museum dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci, a chad of the Italian Renaissance: painter, draughtsman, engineer, scientist, theorist, sculptor, architect. The man behind the Mona Lisa did a pretty good job. You can visit the museum for free. - Italians judge hotels by breakfast and conferences by food. "Focaccia" by Antico Vinaio is the best you can expect. - a few years ago, people only spoke Italian here. This year most panels were in English, with attendees from London, Paris, and across Europe. - everything happens at the main venue: sponsored café, lunch, aperitifs all in the monastery's cloister. Only one post-conference side event. Everyone goes there. No crowd dispersion during the day. - the "Derivatives Summit" hosted @ThalexGlobal, who brought technical discussions on volatility trading; @ryskfinance @DanDeFiEd showed how to build an options protocol and hit 90% retention. Another panel put together @Ostium (perp DEX), @defi_raven (MM), @Perpsdotfun (HIP-3 market builders), and @pear_protocol (long-short trading on HL). From theory to practice. - "Institutional Day" brought the clients every DeFi protocol is looking for. I also found more real traders here than at conferences with 10x the attendees. Kudos to @guid_eth @ilsignorwolff @DavideFi @mattdotfi @miriam369h @bbmilan0 @0xMop_ for making this happen, and sponsors like @moonpay that supported the event. See you next year at @mbw_xyz 🇮🇹

Okay so story time. I'm a massive nerd who somehow ended up building one of the coolest crypto events in Europe and I still can't fully explain how it happened It started at Liscon in Lisbon in 2021, my first real crypto event, and I was completely overwhelmed in the best way possible. Thousands of people who genuinely cared about the same weird niche thing I did, all in one place. I came back to Italy thinking... why don't we have something like this? Turns out @SpaghettEth had the same idea and threw something together in Milan in May 2022, and that's really where the Italian community found each other for the first time. Me, Ale (@ilsignorwolff) and Davide (@DavideFI) saw that energy and thought ok we have to build on this, so first ETHMilan was 2023, three nerds with zero event experience somehow pulling it off, saved at the last minute by @miriam369h (bless her soul) who actually knew what doing an event / running logistics meant, and it was a MASSIVE success (honestly still not sure how lol) Second year we went absolutely all out. 7 stages, 2k+ attendance, Robinhood as main sponsor... and we got completely burned the fuck out. Very special kind of pain when you're standing there thinking how is this our biggest year ever and we're in the red, lol. If you ever want to run events, please nail your budget and stick to it, it is so easy to lose control of the whole thing before you even realise it's happening (trust me). Looking back, the best thing about that year was adding @Lum14eth to the squad Third year we were still running on fumes so we scaled it back to a single day. And honestly? That's when it hit me. People still came. Not because of the stages or the sponsors or the size of it, just because they genuinely loved what we had built, and seeing that was the most heartwarming thing I've experienced in this space. It made me understand that what we're doing here is actually vital for our country, and we will NEVER stop We've kept it boutique on purpose. No noise, no 1000 side events pulling everyone in different directions leaving the main venue half empty, just top tier builders in one room actually talking to each other. All signal. The kind of event where the hallway conversations are just as good as the stage, and we've never compromised on that even when it would have been way easier and more profitable to just scale it up and dilute it. What started as a simple Italian Ethereum event is becoming one of Europe's leading crypto gatherings, and I'm genuinely so proud of what we've built there 4th edition, May 21-22, Milan.
