SECULAR BEAR MARKET: The light blue line in Ben’s chart below is why KISS and Dr. Mo exist. The people making many, many multiples of the median household income in the $5+ trillion hedge fund industry figured this out decades ago. “Chopping off the left tail to create a positively skewed return distribution” allows investors to “compound returns from a higher net asset value.” This is what I’ve been calling “the dirty little secret of Wall Street” for years. It’s why some of the world’s most well-endowed and thoughtful capital allocators happily pay the asset managers we serve 2&20, 3&30—and sometimes more—to manage their money.  FYI, hedge funds took in net asset inflows of $116bn in 2025—the strongest calendar year since 2007. The trailing two-quarter total of $89bn of net asset inflows is the highest of any two-quarter period since 2007. The investors with the largest amount of money to invest are eschewing buy-and-hold and increasingly investing in strategies that are designed to manage risk at the fastest rate since just before the Global Financial Crisis.  If you don’t have a risk management partner to help guide your portfolio through the coming secular bear market, get one ASAP. SOLUTION: The powers that be who fund and influence policymakers—via campaign finance, lobbying, and promises of lucrative jobs in the private sector—to implement K-shaped fiscal policy, K-shaped monetary policy, and K-shaped regulatory policy thrive on our manufactured division.  This is not a Republican vs. Democrat issue. Nor is it a capitalist vs. socialist issue. Nor was it a black vs. white issue during the Jim Crow era. Nor was it an abolitionist vs. slavery sympathizer issue pre-Civil War. Nor was it a patriot vs. loyalist issue pre-American Revolution.  These are all manufactured class divisions designed to perpetuate the “divide and conquer” leadership strategy employed by elites for millennia. This has always been a labor vs. capital issue.  When the latter cohort siphons an extreme amount of resources from the former cohort via what Dr. Peter Turchin and his colleagues at the Complexity Science Hub have termed the “wealth pump,” historically bad outcomes tend to occur in those societies. The U.S.’ socially destabilizing “wealth pump” will remain on as long as we allow ourselves to succumb to these manufactured class divisions.  Those of us who have worked hard—or had parents who worked hard—to ascend to the capital class must be especially aware of the fleeting nature of our newfound comfort if we don’t rise above the 🔴🐘 vs. 🔵🫏 partisan bickering and co-develop a credible strategy to perpetuate an “E-shaped” economy before it’s too late. The ONLY solution is purple. 💜🇺🇸 CC @tomkeene @FerroTV @RomaineBostick @kgreifeld @lisaabramowicz1 @annmarie @mckonomy @jmathieureports @BloombergTV @business @economics @MariaBartiromo @cvpayne @RiggsReport @FoxBusiness @juleshyman @YahooFinance @NPetallides  @DianeKingHall  @sam_vadas  @SchwabNetwork  @andrewrsorkin @BeckyQuick @JoeSquawk @SquawkCNBC @TheDomino @TheJudgeCNBC @MelissaLeeCNBC @FrankCNBC @EamonJavers @MorganLBrennan @jimcramer @SaraEisen @davidfaber @KellyCNBC @steveliesman @CNBC @NickTimiraos @WSJ @RickRieder @elerianm @judyshel @HooverInst @federalreserve @APompliano @theallinpod @chamath @jason @davidsacks @friedberg

CHARTS 1 & 2: Why the US needed Trump Accounts™—a policy that I love and support—to begin with. Hint: It may have something to do with the greedy shifts away from supporting unions and to defined-contribution pensions. Note: It’s not good. CHART 3: Why Trump Accounts™ represent only a disappointingly tiny step in the right direction of an "E-shaped" economy from a "K-shaped" economy. Note: It’s worse. CHART 4: The historically bad range of probable outcomes that are likely to occur if we persist in this condition—on a timeline much sooner than anyone with young children would prefer. Note: Don’t look if you’re already having a bad day. Wait until tomorrow. Just think: 1. Corporations are panic spending on AI capex at rates rarely surpassed in modern human history. 2. Governments are panic spending on defense at rates not seen since the decades when the world was constantly at war. From this, we can surmise two things: 1. There will be lots of change in the coming years—likely much more than normal. 2. The change itself or the impact of the change is likely to be dangerous—likely much more than normal. Make wise choices. Nurture your relationships and community because, in the coming years, you may need them much more than normal. Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. 11 Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling. 12 Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him. —Psalm 2:10-12 The oldest tale of time is that elites can only take so much from The People before they revolt and eventually succeed—however peaceful or not peaceful the process may be. I wouldn’t be doing my job as a risk manager if I didn’t prepare you for this risk. I love you and Jesus Christ loves you too, —Skipper 💜

Late night hunger hits different—warm miso soup, steamed pork buns, and that quiet hum of a tiny street stall just for night owls. Perfect end to a long day.
